Payment tracking can be completed in Online Banking and the App. Where available, the following tracking information will display:

Tracking information becomes available once the payment status changes to Sent. However, if you are viewing the payment through the Transaction details screen, tracking will not display until the next business day.

  2. Tap All payments and select your international payment.
  3. The payment details screen will show tracking information

  2. From the transaction list, select the international payment.
  3. Tap View payment and tracking details to open the payment details screen.

Payment stages

Payment stage Description
Sent The payment has been successfully sent from Westpac for processing by the banks involved. You can see the date and time that the payment left Westpac, which may be later than when you submitted the payment due to completion of necessary processing steps.
Processing

The payment is being processed by the banks involved.

Updates will include details of any Intermediary Bank, the recipient’s bank (payee bank), and the date and time the payment was updated. If a fee is deducted by a bank, it will be shown next to the bank’s name. Details of any currency conversions by a bank will also be displayed.

If a bank involved in processing the payment doesn’t provide tracking updates, the payment will remain in a ‘Processing’ status even after the payment has been completed and the payee has received the funds.

Rejected

The payment was rejected by one of the banks involved.

Updates will include the name of the bank that rejected the payment and the date and time the payment was updated.

More details will be shown in the payment status summary (captured immediately before the full payment tracking details), including the reason for the rejection, if provided.

Completed The payment has been processed, and the payee has received the funds. The credited amount will be the original amount less any fees deducted by banks during the payment's journey.
Partially completed The payment has been processed, but the recipient has only received some of the funds. This is due to their bank releasing the payment in parts.
