Do I need to have Westpac SMS ProtectTM to set up a PayID?

If you sign into online banking as personal customer, Westpac SMS Protect is required to be set up before creating a PayID. To set up Westpac SMS Protect:


  • If you haven’t provided us with your mobile number, please call us on 1300 655 505 from Australia or +61 2 9155 7700 from overseas.
  • If we have a mobile for you on file, you can register for Westpac Protect SMS:

In the Mobile Banking App go to Self serve > Security and access > SMS code and token.

In Westpac Online Banking  go to Services & preferences > Preferences > Security.

  • If you are a Personal customer using a token, you will need to call us to switch to SMS Protect.
