No, an internet connection is not required for Garmin Pay payments. The Garmin smart watch uses Near Field Communications (NFC) to communicate with the contactless terminal.

Yes, your Garmin 4-digit PIN code must be entered at least once a day and each time you put the watch on your wrist to enable payments.

Once you have added a card to your Garmin smart watch, select or press and hold the action button on the side of the smart watch to display the Navigation Controls menu. Tap the Virtual Wallet icon and enter your Garmin 4-digit PIN code if prompted (you will be prompted to enter your Garmin PIN code every 24 hours or the first time you make a payment after putting on your watch). Once the wallet is open the last-used card is displayed (you can switch to another card by swiping down on the screen); hold your smart watch near the contactless terminal to pay. The Garmin watch vibrates slightly when the contactless payment is made.

Subject to your terms and conditions, you are covered by our Fraud Money Back Guarantee for any unauthorised purchases made with your Westpac card on Garmin Pay.  To make a payment of over $100 with your Westpac card on Garmin Pay, you must enter your physical card PIN at the contactless terminal.  For security reasons, if the contactless terminal does not prompt you for your card PIN, the transaction using Garmin Pay will not be accepted.

This does not change current payments or transaction limits on your physical card. The provisions of your card Product Terms continue to apply in the same way for Garmin Pay payments.

If the payment terminal doesn’t recognise Garmin Pay, ensure the watch face is near the reader and that the cashier knows you’re making a contactless payment.

Note: For added security, Garmin Pay will only be activated when the smart watch is being worn on your wrist and has been authenticated via your Garmin PIN.

Currently, gift cards don’t work on Garmin Pay.

If your Garmin smart watch is lost or stolen, you can remove or suspend your card from Garmin Pay via the Wallet section of the Garmin Connect Mobile app.

You can still make payments using your physical card. No-one else can use your smart watch to make a payment without first entering your Garmin 4-digit PIN code.

No, you don’t need to have your phone nearby to use Garmin Pay. Once the smart watch is setup, payments can be made directly from the smart watch, provided you have entered your Garmin 4-digit PIN code every 24 hours, or when you put the smart watch on.

  1.  Open the Garmin connect Mobile app on your mobile.
  2. Tap on the Settings icon on the Garmin connect Mobile app dashboard.
  3. Tap on Garmin Pay.

  7. Tap OK to confirm. The card is removed from Garmin Pay.

Alternatively, you can delete your entire Garmin Pay wallet. This deletes all the cards in the wallet.

You should restore the default settings on your Garmin smart watch. This will erase the app and personal data and delete the cards from the smart watch. Instructions are available on the Garmin Support Center website in the Owner's Manual for your Garmin product, under Restoring All Default Settings.

When you add a card to Garmin Pay, a Device Account Number is created in place of your card number. This number is used when you make a payment with Garmin Pay (or a refund of that payment) so that your card number isn't shared with the merchant and won’t appear on the receipt. Each time you add a card to Garmin Pay, a new Device Account Number is created.

If you are using Garmin Pay to obtain a refund, you may have to enter your card PIN at the terminal.

Yes, you can view the last ten Garmin Pay transactions made with a Visa card in the Garmin Pay wallet on your mobile device. Garmin Pay transactions made with Mastercard cannot be viewed in the Garmin Pay wallet on your mobile device at this time. To view Garmin Pay transactions made with a Mastercard, you need to log into Online or Mobile Banking and check your transaction details. The transactions displayed in Online or Mobile Banking will not be differentiated as Garmin Pay transactions.

If you have not set up SMS verification for online banking or the SMS verification is temporarily blocked you will be asked to contact Customer Care when you add your card to Garmin Pay.  Customer Care can check to see if you are registered for Westpac Protect® SMS.

To add your card to your Garmin Pay Wallet, open the Garmin Connect Mobile app, select Garmin Pay and follow the onscreen instructions to add your card. Accept the Garmin Pay Terms and Conditions (if you agree), enter your card information (or scan the card from an Apple device) and accept the Westpac Garmin Pay Terms and Conditions (if you agree). Garmin Pay will prompt you to verify your identity via a One Time Password sent via SMS from Westpac. Enter the password and tap Verify to complete card setup.

Your transactions and card information are secure. Garmin Pay does not store your payment information or your card details on the Garmin smart watch or share these details with merchants.  When a contactless payment is made at the terminal with Garmin Pay, the merchants will only see the Device Account Number. When you set up Garmin Pay, you are required to set up a Garmin 4-digit PIN as an authentication method to authorise payments using Garmin Pay. Ensure you choose a PIN which is secure and not easy for someone else to guess.

You can keep track of any purchases made with your Westpac Visa card. As soon as you complete a transaction with your Westpac Visa card, you’ll see a payment confirmation in your Garmin Wallet (in the Garmin Connect Mobile app) that shows exactly where the transaction occurred, along with the merchant's name and the transaction amount. The ten most recent transactions made with your Westpac Visa card in Garmin Pay are displayed. You can detect any suspicious activity using this information and report it to Westpac.

In the unfortunate event you lose your Garmin smart watch, you can remove or suspend the card(s) added to the smart watch using the Garmin Pay section of the Garmin Connect Mobile app. No-one else can use your smart watch to make a payment without first entering your Garmin 4-digit PIN code.

Subject to your terms and conditions, you are covered by our Fraud Money Back Guarantee for any unauthorised purchases you make with your Westpac card on Garmin Pay.
