Why am I asked to complete verification when I add my card to Google Pay?

We take the security of your accounts very seriously. When adding a card to Google Pay, you are required to verify you are the owner of the cards being added.

If you add your card to Google Pay directly through the Google Wallet App, you may be asked to complete verification via one of the following options:

  • Westpac App – you will need to have the latest version of the Westpac App installed
  • SMS – you will need to be registered for a Westpac Protect™ Security Code using an Australian mobile phone number
  • Calling Westpac – in some instances you may be asked to call our contact centre to complete verification.

When you add your card through the Westpac App, you must be verified with a Westpac Protect™ Security Code® or a SecurID token.
