How are foreign currency transactions from my eligible accounts treated for the purpose of Carbon Footprint Tracker calculation?

For eligible transactions made in a foreign currency, we apply the relevant average carbon emissions factor to the converted AUD (Australian Dollar) amount, based on the industry category assigned to that transaction.

Any foreign currency transactions related to your eligible accounts will be displayed as an indicative AUD equivalent, based on historical conversion rates on the date of the transactions published by Open Exchange Rates (UK) Limited. No actual currency conversion occurs in order to calculate your estimated carbon footprint for that transaction.

These rates are likely to differ from the rates provided at the time the transaction was processed. Westpac cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the information used for the purposes of calculating your estimated carbon footprint.
