Frequently asked questions

Scanned cheques will appear on the next NSW banking day. It would take a further business day if you scanned the cheque after 9pm (Sydney time).
Cheques will usually clear in 3 business days.

Please contact Westpac on 1300 655 505 if you have any questions about a cheque you have scanned but cannot locate as a deposit in your account.

Please keep the cheque for 2 weeks and then securely destroy it. We suggest that you write ‘deposited’ across the front of the cheque as a reminder that you have deposited it.

The cheque feature can accept most personal and business cheques up to the value of $5,000.

If the cheque has been identified as being:

  • A duplicate – destroy the cheque
  • Dishonoured – contact the drawer of the cheque
  • Declined – visit a branch to deposit the cheque.

If the cheque was rejected, there are a number of possible reasons. In some cases, the cheque’s MICR line may have writing interfering with it.

You don’t need to do anything. The deposit will be corrected through the overnight processing and you will see an adjustment in your account.

Depending on the account receiving the deposit, you may be charged a cheque collection/deposit fee and/or a staff-assisted deposit fee for each cheque deposited.
