Depositing a cheque under $1,000 has never been easier, thanks to mobile cheque deposits. Simply upload a picture of the front and back of your cheque to the Westpac app. The cheque will usually clear and be in your chosen transaction account within three business days.

Deposit a cheque in just a few taps.

Step 1: Open the Westpac app

Log in to mobile banking, tap ‘Services’ > ‘Account services’ > ‘Cheque deposit’

 

Step 2: Select account

Enter the cheque amount and select the account you wish to deposit the cheque into.

 

Step 3: Take photos of your cheque

Photograph the front and back of the cheque, ensure the scanned details are correct and tap 'Submit'.

Things you should know

Available for eligible customers and accounts. 

Talk to us to find out if your account is eligible for mobile cheque deposits. 

You must have the latest version of the Westpac Mobile banking app and a compatible iOS or Android operating system.

Over each 7 days, mobile cheque deposit may be used to submit cheques totalling up to $1,000 as a personal customer, and up to $1,000 across a business network. Transaction limits may change. You may only submit Australian dollar cheques. You must not submit a cheque unless you are the true owner, and you must not allow a cheque to be deposited again after it has been submitted. After you have submitted a cheque you must keep it safe for 2 weeks, then securely destroy it.

Uncleared funds will appear in your account on the next business day (or the business day after that if you submit a cheque after 9pm Sydney time, or on a day that is not a business day). Funds will usually become available after a further 3 business days. 

Westpac Mobile Banking applications are only available for use by Westpac Australia customers.

Internet connection is needed to access the Westpac Mobile Banking app. Normal mobile data charges apply.
