Frequently asked questions
A business credit card can have personal or business liability. This just means who will repay transactions made on the credit card.
- Personal Liability. The business owner is personally responsible for all transactions on the credit card account. It’s suited for small businesses (including sole traders and partnerships) where the business owner takes personal responsibility for the balance owing on the credit card account.
Applying for Personal Liability
For Personal Liability you will need to provide details of your individual income, employment, personal expenses and liabilities.
- Business Liability. The Business is liable for the payment for all transactions on the facility. It’s suited for business entities where the owners or other responsible individuals would prefer the business, rather than themselves to be liable for the balance owing on the facility.
Applying for Business Liability
For Business Liability applications you will need to provide details of the Businesses income, expenses, liabilities and assets together with supporting information.
With Westpac it can take as little as 10 minutes to apply online. If you’re eligible, you could receive your card(s) within a week. If you’re not yet a customer it’ll take longer, because we’ll need to verify the details you provide about you and your business finances.
