What our graduates have to say
I graduated with a double degree in Actuarial Studies/Mathematics at UNSW and in my spare time I enjoy reading, watching foreign films, doing Pilates and going out to brunch with friends and family.
I applied for the Westpac Financial Markets & Treasury Graduate Program as the Westpac core values really resonate with me and it is a very exciting time to work in financial markets.
There are plenty of new opportunities on offer to expand your knowledge of financial markets and the banking system as a whole, build meaningful professional relationships that will serve you well throughout your career, and explore what areas you are most interested in working in.
Since rolling off the program...
I now work as part of the International Money Markets team in Chief Investment Office in Treasury. The team manages risk generated from offshore term issuance via the cross-currency market, which is my key focus.
During my grad year, I gained exposure to trading desks on both the buy-side and sell-side from which I gained a greater appreciation of how key market participants interact with financial markets. During my Treasury rotation I also learned about bank funding and balance sheet management, which is quite insightful being one of the four major banks in Australia. I also spent time in the Systematic Trading, Analytics & Quant team, which was quite interesting seeing how fast markets have evolved. Overall, I really enjoyed my grad year and am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to rotate through such amazing teams.
