Help Westpac donate a million meals to children in need.

We’ve partnered with Mastercard to support the United Nations World Food Programme.

Earlier this year, we partnered with Mastercard® to support the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to help make your daily commute count and now we’re giving you the opportunity again.
 

From 28 October to 24 November 2019, each time you complete a journey on the Transport for NSW network and pay for the tap on/tap off fare with a Westpac Mastercard, we’ll donate one school meal to WFP at no cost to you. We’ll also donate a school meal for every auto top-up or Opal kiosk top-up made using a Westpac Mastercard.
 

And with the recent rollout of contactless functionality to the Sydney bus network, there’s an even greater opportunity to make a difference when you tap on and off with your Westpac Mastercard. Plus, you’ll also be eligible for the Opal weekly caps and travel rewards.

Partners since 2012, World Food Programme, Mastercard and its banking and retail partners have donated more than 69 million meals to children in need around the world since 2017. Our first campaign was launched from 1 July 2019 to 4 August 2019 inclusive, raising the value of over 1 million meals to WFP school meals programme.

 

Your journey helps the most vulnerable.

Meals will be donated to schoolchildren in places that need them most – from conflict zones to drought-stricken lands and areas of extreme poverty.


These meals are a powerful incentive for parents to send their children to school. So along with feeding children, your donation supports universal access to education, which helps to break the cycle of poverty.


The donated foods are sourced from local communities to provide an opportunity for equitable economic growth, generate jobs and supporting a resilient community.

Next time you travel, please tap on and off with your Westpac Mastercard.

All you need to do is pay for the full adult peak hour tap on/tap off fare with a Westpac Mastercard during the campaign period and we will donate a school meal to the WFP. This includes debit cards and credit cards on any NSW train, bus, ferry or light rail. Every journey counts.

Pay for your next train, bus or ferry journey on the Transport for NSW network using your Westpac Mastercard and we’ll donate the value of a school meal to WFP. You can pay via tapping with your contactless Westpac Mastercard, or by topping up your card via auto top-up or at an Opal kiosk.

Westpac and Mastercard will jointly donate the global average cost of one World Food Programme (WFP) school meal (AUD$0.35) to WFP. During the Campaign Period, Westpac and Mastercard will jointly donate over 1,000,000 WFP school meals, up to combined donation amount of AUD $500,000.

Eligible Transactions include contactless card purchases, Westpac PayWear purchases, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay transactions made using a Westpac Debit Mastercard® or Westpac Credit Mastercard® to purchase a “tap on/tap off” travel fare on the Transport for NSW network during the Campaign Period only. It also includes online auto top-up purchases, Opal transactions, and Opal kiosk top-ups made using a Westpac Debit Mastercard® or Westpac Credit Mastercard® (which includes payments made via contactless card, Google Pay, Samsung Pay or Westpac PayWear). Offer excludes other in-store contactless purchases, cash advances and ATM withdrawals.

Paying for Eligible Travel will incur the same charge as an equivalent standard (peak) Adult fare. Adult off-peak, Child/Youth and Senior/Pensioner fares cannot be purchased using contactless payment. Contactless payment may be used to purchase Opal Daily, Weekly and Sunday Caps; however these purchases will not count as Eligible Transactions for the purposes of the Campaign. Things you should know

This campaign is being run by Westpac and is available to existing Westpac customers only. The campaign commences on 28 October 2019 and ends on 24 November 2019 inclusive (“Campaign Period”). 

During the Campaign Period, when a Westpac customer has:

  • completed a journey on the Transport for NSW network; and
  • paid the “tap on/tap off” travel fare using a Westpac Debit Mastercard® or Westpac Credit Mastercard® (which includes payments made via contactless card, Google Pay TM, Samsung Pay TM or Westpac Paywear); or
  • completed an online auto top-up or Opal kiosk top-up and paid for the top-up using a Westpac Debit Mastercard® or Westpac Credit Mastercard® (which includes payments made via contactless card, Google Pay, Samsung Pay or Westpac Paywear),Westpac and Mastercard will jointly donate the global average cost of one World Food Programme (WFP) school meal (AUD$0.35) to WFP.

During the Campaign Period, Westpac and Mastercard will jointly donate over 1,000,000 WFP school meals, up to a combined donation amount of AUD$500,000.

This Campaign may be varied or withdrawn at any time and is not available in conjunction with any other campaign, offer or promotion.

Mastercard is working with Good2Give (ABN: 32 089 603 314), a Not-for-Profit organisation with offices at 12 Holtermann Street, Crows Nest, NSW 2065, Australia (“Good2Give”) to enable Mastercard to fundraise and to nominate Good2Give as the pass through organisation for transferring funds to the WFP. During 2019 Mastercard will pay for Good2Give’s charges to ensure as much of the donation as possible reaches the destination charity. These fees are to cover operational costs of Good2Give only. Mastercard does not deduct any fees from the donations nor charge any bank fees that are normally applied to donations collected. Donation accepted on behalf of Mastercard Hunger Hero sub-fund of the Good2Give Community Fund ABN 75 706 087 295.
