What our graduates have to say

I graduated with a Computer Science degree at Macquarie University, but my path wasn’t completely straightforward. I originally started in economics, but over time realised I was far more drawn to building things and solving problems through technology, which led me to make the switch.

When I applied for the grad program, I knew I enjoyed tackling complex problems, but I wasn’t sure which area of technology I wanted to focus on. The Tech Rotational program was a big plus - it gave me the opportunity to explore different domains, learn from a variety of teams, and figure out where my strengths and interests aligned.

During the program, I was fortunate to experience a range of roles. I started in Enterprise DevOps as an Engineer, then moved into Westpac Institutional Bank as a Financial Markets Engineer, before also spending time in the Chief Data Office as a Data Analyst. Across these rotations, what stood out most was the support from teams, the opportunity to work on meaningful problems, and the strong social network within the Grad cohort.

Now, I’ve landed in the Treasury Data team as a Data Intelligence Professional. My role sits right at the intersection of business and technology - working on complex, high-impact problems where both domain knowledge and technical skills are essential. What I’ve really come to appreciate is that the most interesting and valuable opportunities exist in that overlap. It’s not just about building solutions, but about deeply understanding the problem space and applying technology in a way that genuinely drives outcomes. Being in a specialised domain gives me the chance to do exactly that - work closely with experts, continuously learn the business, and use technology to solve problems that really matter.
