What our graduates have to say
“After completing architectural studies at UNSW, I worked for a couple of years in that industry before deciding to pursue my interest in Digital by joining the Westpac Digital Grad program. Whilst at first glance architecture and Digital seem quite different, there are a lot of aspects around design principles, thought processes and flows that are very similar.
I found the Westpac Digital Grad program to be fantastic. The rotations are structured to give Grads a feel for a variety of areas and multiple teams in the business so as to find which areas we are most interested in.
In one of my rotations my role was a Business Analyst in the Digital Service Request team which is tasked with digitising forms. I have been fascinated to learn about the complexities and many moving parts that need consideration, whilst being given responsibility for tasks across a variety of different projects that my team is working on. I really appreciate seeing how the role fits into the wider Digital team and organisation.
I have found the culture in the Digital team to be extremely welcoming, super friendly and really collaborative. Everyone in the team is so keen to share their knowledge and get me involved in their work.
The Grad program has an amazing support structure, a buddy system with past Digital Grads, a mentor, workshops and training sessions. The Digital Grad program also has its own unique initiatives such as a speed networking event, a hackathon, workshops, training sessions and regular check ins with the Digital Talent Program cohort. If that is not enough, there are also a series of unofficial social events organised by the great community of current and past Digital Grads.”
Trini, 2023 Graduate
"I joined the Graduate Program in 2025, rotating across the Customer Analytics and Data Science teams. I was drawn to the opportunity to apply advanced analytics and AI solutions to solve meaningful business problems at scale.
During my first rotation in Customer Analytics, I honed my skills in data wrangling using SQL and presenting findings directly to stakeholders, learning how to translate complex data into clear, compelling stories for non-technical audiences. This rotation gave me a strong appreciation for how data informs customer strategy and decision-making across the business. In my second rotation with the Data Science team, I dove into building machine learning models using Python, deepening my technical capability and seeing first-hand how predictive analytics drives real business outcomes."
Since rolling off the program…
"I permanently joined the DDAI Data Science team as an Associate Data Scientist. Looking back, the graduate program gave me the perfect launchpad - bridging the gap between academic theory and the kind of applied, end-to-end data science work I get to do every day.
The variety across rotations was one of the program's biggest strengths, exposing me to different facets of data and helping me discover where my skills and interests aligned. The team culture has been supportive and collaborative, with plenty of encouragement to ask questions, take ownership, and contribute to high-impact projects from the very start. If you're curious about AI and data and want a career where you're constantly learning and making a tangible difference, I'd highly recommend the program."
