What our graduates have to say

I studied a Bachelor of Accounting at Central Queensland University which I completed mostly via distance which prepared me for the hybrid working environment that Westpac offers.

I may be a Business Grad, but I also love to garden, and it helps refocus and calm my mind when I have a challenging task.

As a typical Gen Y and a parent, the flexibility and positive “family first” culture within Westpac Group, made it an obvious choice for me.

Since rolling off the program…

I am now part of a Commercial Business team assisting Relationship Managers with their clients to ensure we are compliant in our lending, as well as helping them to grow their business.

Working a hybrid environment enables me to be in the office with my team but also work from home when necessary, supporting me to continue to experience a good work/life balance.

The graduate program best prepared me for my new role by giving me a solid grounding in the operations of the various parts of the bank. By rotating through several areas, I gained a good understanding for how different areas interact with another, divisional responsibilities, and key processes.

Christyn, 2022 Business Graduate

I had a career in the Construction Industry prior to completing a Master of Finance Degree at The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).

In my spare time, I love to train at the gym and do the coastal walk from Bronte to Bondi to see the sites and be near the ocean.

I have a passion for learning and maintaining a growth mindset in all aspects of my life. Westpac’s refreshed talent acquisition model drew me in as they were after Uncommon Minds with diverse backgrounds.

Westpac made me feel like I could achieve great things in the bank, regardless of my prior experience. The Graduate Program was the ultimate experience in getting to know the business and being empowered to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the bank.

Since rolling off the program…

I am now a Manager of Workforce Change and Engagement in Consumer Banking. Additionally, I am a National Engagement Lead for The Youth Network (TYN), which is an Employee Advocacy Group at Westpac.

In my role at Westpac, I work to improve the Operations of the Branch Network throughout Australia for the Westpac Group – this includes Westpac, St George, Bank of Melbourne, and Bank of South Australia banks.

I have great exposure to inspiring Senior Leaders in Westpac through key pieces of work in my role. I am always learning and networking through my interactions at Westpac with internal and external stakeholders.

The Graduate Program has prepared me for a successful career at Westpac. I come to work excited every day for what my next learning opportunity is and how I can bring value to Westpac and its customers.

Anthony, 2022 Consumer Graduate
