Westpac has stepped onto the pitch as Cricket Australia’s new Principal Partner, with the bank’s logo to feature on the men’s and women’s team shirts for international matches played in Australia.
The four-year agreement is set to shape the future of cricket in Australia from the grassroots through to the elite level, including Test, One-Day, and T20 matches - as well as the Australia A and under-19 squads. The bank also joins the Big Bash League as an Official Partner.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Westpac as Cricket Australia’s new Principal Partner,” says Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg. “This partnership represents a shared commitment to making a positive impact on the field and in the community.
“Westpac's support will directly contribute to initiatives that elevate participation and visibility in our sport and help support our vision of making cricket a sport for all.”
Westpac CEO Anthony Miller echoes the sentiment. “We’re excited to step up to the crease and back Australian cricket. Like Westpac, cricket in Australia has a long and proud history stretching back 200 years.
“As Australia’s oldest bank, we can’t wait to join forces with one of Australia’s oldest sports and help shape the future of this great game.”
The partnership is set to deliver a suite of initiatives designed to make cricket more inclusive, accessible and representative of Australia’s diverse communities.
Fans can look forward to some key plays, including:
Support for local clubs and communities: Westpac will present the national community awards, celebrating the unsung volunteers and club champions who contribute to the game.
Leveling the playing field for women and girls: From increasing the number of female coaches and administrators to creating new pathways for participation, Westpac is investing in the future of women’s cricket - on and off the pitch.
Championing inclusion: As the presenting partner of the National Cricket Inclusion Championships and international disability series, Westpac will support programs for players who are blind or have low vision; are deaf or hard of hearing; or have intellectual disabilities.
Elevating First Nations talent: The bank will also back the National Indigenous Cricket Championships and Indigenous international matches, helping to spotlight and nurture First Nations players.
Ahead of this summer’s highly anticipated Ashes series, the partnership will debut with series’ against India and South Africa from next month.
