No, it is a Visa prepaid card, so you need to load money onto your card before you can use it. When you make a purchase or get cash from an ATM, the amount is deducted from your preloaded balance.
Yes, most ATMs will support balance enquiries and cash withdrawals. The balance displayed at the ATM will be in the currency of the country you are visiting and there are no cash advance fees on the Global Currency Card.
As long as you use Westpac, St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA ATMs in Australia, and Global Alliance ATMs overseas, you will pay no ATM withdrawal or balance enquiry fees1. If you use a non-Westpac Group ATM in Australia or non-Global Alliance ATM overseas, fees will be applied as set out in the Product Disclosure Statement. There is no foreign exchange fee when you withdraw in a currency that is loaded on your card2. No, only Australian dollar amounts can be transferred onto your card.
You can keep using your card in Australia to either shop online in your chosen currency or withdraw cash from any Westpac Group ATM without paying any ATM withdrawal fees. Alternatively, you can transfer the remaining foreign funds back into Australian Dollars at the applicable exchange rate and request the Available Balance to be transferred into a nominated Australian bank account, simply sign in to gcc.westpac.com.au.
Once your card expires, you can no longer use your card for purchases or cash withdrawals. You can renew your card 60 days prior to the card expiry date or up to 6 months after the card expiry date.
To renew your card, sign into gcc.westpac.com.au and select “Order New Card”. Each card needs to be ordered separately should you choose to renew more than one card. Your balance will be automatically linked to your new cards.
To cancel your card and transfer the remaining funds into a nominated Australian bank account, sign into gcc.westpac.com.au, transfer all your foreign currencies into Australian Dollars at the applicable exchange rate and request the Available Balance to be transferred to your nominated Australian bank account. Your funds will be transferred within 10 business days.
If you suspect an error in your transaction history, please ask us about lodging a dispute form, or log into the website to download the dispute resolution form and follow the instructions to lodge the dispute.
