Westpac Female Founder Awards Privacy Notice

Purpose of this notice

This privacy notice explains how Westpac Banking Corporation and its related bodies corporate (“Westpac”, “we”, “us”) collect, use and disclose personal information in connection with the Westpac Female Founder Awards (Awards). It applies in addition to Westpac’s Candidate, Visitor and Contractor Privacy Statement (Privacy Statement), which is available at https://www.westpac.com.au/privacy.

What personal information we collect

We collect personal information you provide when applying for the Awards, including:

  • your name, title, contact details (address, phone number, email) and role;
  • information about your business, including ABN, business contact details and website;
  • information obtained from the Australian Business Register when you provide your ABN (such as entity name, ABN status, entity type and main business location);
  • responses to application questions, including information about your experience, achievements and the social or community impact of your business; and
  • any other information you choose to provide to support your application.

If you are shortlisted or selected, we may request additional information, such as verification documents or, where relevant, consent to undertake a police check.

How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to:

  • assess eligibility for, and administer, the Awards;
  • evaluate and judge applications, including comparing applications against the Awards criteria;
  • contact you about your application, including requesting further information;
  • verify information provided in your application; and
  • manage publicity and promotional activities related to the Awards, where applicable.

We may also use application information in aggregated and de identified form for reporting, research and insights, including to improve future award programs.

Who we disclose your personal information to

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • Westpac employees and contractors involved in administering the Awards;
  • members of the judging panel, which may include external industry experts engaged for the purpose of assessing applications;
  • service providers who support the Awards (for example, IT, administration, verification or communications providers); and
  • regulators, law enforcement agencies or other parties where required or authorised by law.

Publicity and promotional activities

If your application is successful, we may invite you to participate in reasonable promotional activities related to the Awards, such as interviews, photography, video or marketing communications. Participation in publicity activities will be subject to your agreement, as indicated in the application form.

Sensitive information

In limited circumstances, we may collect sensitive information, such as criminal record information, where a police check is required for finalists. We will only collect and handle sensitive information where reasonably necessary and with your consent, and in accordance with our Privacy Statement and applicable laws.

Providing information is optional

You do not have to provide personal information to us. However, if you do not provide the information we reasonably request, we may be unable to assess or progress your application for the Awards.
