Join us during your university semester breaks or on a regular basis during semester with our Indigenous Internship Program. You’ll gain paid, professional experience relevant to your studies and a chance to explore the practical side of your chosen degree. It’s a great way to get a jump-start on joining our Graduate Program or even gaining permanent employment at Westpac Group.

Applications are open year round


  • To be eligible you must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • To apply you must be enrolled in University or TAFE.

How internships work

  • Internships can run in semester break or during semester, whatever works for you
  • You need to be enrolled in university or TAFE
  • You’ll be paid for your internship
  • Internships can range from 4 weeks to 12 weeks, depending on the business
  • Internships can be completed in person or as home/office hybrid
  • Interns are supported by a “buddy” as part of our Echo mentoring program.

  • Our fully identified Indigenous Careers Team will be here to support your journey, from application stage throughout your internship and through to program completion.
