Introducing Osko Payments
Now that Westpac has rolled out fast payments to our eligible consumer customers, an increasing number of your payments that you make or receive will happen in almost an instant, 24/7 - including weekends and public holidays. These real-time payments automatically use Osko by BPay®.
To send money to your family and friends with eligible accounts at participating financial institutions in under a minute, 24/7, all you need to know is their PayID or BSB and account number. Best of all, it is part of your online banking. They can also pay your BSB and account number or PayID in almost an instant.
How will I know if I have it?
You’ll receive a message in Online Banking saying that fast payments are here with Osko and PayID.
How will I know I’ve received a real-time payment?
If the payment is made in real-time, Osko or the Osko logo will appear next to the transaction in Online Banking.
How will I know if it's going to be a real-time payment when I make a payment?
You’ll know it will be a fast payment when paying a PayID or BSB and account number as Osko or the Osko logo will appear on the Payment review page in Online Banking.
How do I make an Osko payment to a PayID?
For personal customers, to make an Osko payment to a PayID, you’ll need to create a PayID and have an eligible account.
To create a PayID:
For desktop, sign in to Online Banking and select Services & preferences > Account services > PayID / Pay to Mobile > Register
From the Westpac Banking App, sign in and select Self serve > Account Services > PayID / Pay to Mobile > Register
To make a payment to a PayID
Note: Your payees must have registered their mobile number as a PayID at their financial institution before you can make a payment to it.
For personal customers, on a desktop, sign in and select Payments > Make a payment > Payees > Select the PayID (mobile number) you’d like to pay to.
On a mobile, select Pay > Choose A Payee > Select the PayID (mobile number) you’d like to pay to.
How do I make an Osko payment to a BSB and account number?
To make an Osko payment to a BSB and account number, the payee needs to have an eligible Osko account at a participating financial institution. The payment cannot be future dated or recurring.
Who can I make real-time payments to?
Only eligible personal, business or corporate accounts at a participating Australian bank or financial institution are supported by the fast payment network. Overseas and off shore bank accounts are not.
Are real-time payments safe?
Real-time payments made via Online Banking are covered by the Westpac Online Security Guarantee.
You should only pay people or businesses you know. Be alert to fraud and scams.
Will BPAY bills and Post Bill Pay payments occur in real-time?
At this stage, BPAY bills and Post Bill Pay payments are not enabled for real time payments.
Will Westpac credit card repayment be made in real-time?
At this stage, repayments to your Westpac credit card are not enabled for real-time payments.
