Important changes to our rewards credit cards.

From 4 April 2018, we’ll be making changes to our Rewards credit cards.

The Reserve Bank of Australia introduced new regulations on 1 July 2017, which impact credit cards issued by Australian banks in particular Bank issued American Express Cards.  In response, Westpac reviewed its rewards credit cards and we want to notify you of some important changes.

Altitude Rewards.

The Westpac-issued American Express Card linked to your card account will close on 4 April 2018. However, for cardholders with a card expiration date of March 2018, the Westpac-issued American Express Card will close on 31 March 2018. You can continue to use this card as usual until then with no change to the features and benefits, including the number of points you can earn.

Yes. You can request a Westpac-issued American Express card until 31 January 2018. However, that card will close on 4 April 2018.

No. These changes will not impact your points balance.

If you’ve set up recurring payments on your Visa or Mastercard® there will be no impact to your recurring payments or BPAY. However if you make payments through your Westpac-issued American Express Card, you’ll need to contact the merchant directly and provide alternate card details before your card closes. Recurring payments linked to your Westpac-issued American Express Card can be identified by viewing your American Express transactions in your monthly credit card statements. Unfortunately, we are unable to amend recurring payments on your behalf however we have created a list of service providers that may be relevant to you, visit westpac.com.au/recurringpayments.

Any changes to Annual Card Fees (if applicable) are set out in your letter.

No. Your card number or PIN will not change.

Once your Westpac-issued American Express Card closes, the features and benefits attached to it, including Amex Connect, will no longer be available. Your other card account benefits not related to American Express will remain the same.

Additionally, the Altitude Terms and Conditions will be updated to reflect the changes for Altitude Platinum and Altitude Platinum Plus account holders, available at westpac.com.au/altitude-rewards-terms.
