1. How do I make payments to Australia if I choose to continue using Westpac’s services after my existing international payments service with Westpac closes?

Step 1 – Setting up your accounts and funds transfer services

  • Ensure you have access to Westpac Online Banking (if you do not currently have access, you can use the link below).
  • Open a GBP (£) or EUR (€) account.
    • If you are in Australia open a Foreign Currency Account here or by visiting one of our branches.
    • If you are in the UK you will need to call our bankers on 0207 621 7222 or email migrantfx@westpac.com.au for assistance.

Step 2 – Send your funds transfer

From your existing UK or EU Bank, initiate the international funds transfer. To do so you will need to provide your bank with a minimum of:

  • Your Westpac account name
  • Your Westpac BSB and account number
  • Westpac SWIFT code – WPACAU2S
  • Please enter the following code into the description or details of payment to notify Westpac that a receiving fee* should not be charged – AUPREMIUM

Your funds will then be credited to your GBP (£) or EUR (€) Westpac account.

*Please note that your remitting bank, or an intermediary bank, may charge a fee for sending funds to Westpac. In addition, it is possible that other taxes or costs may apply to your instruction that are not imposed by or paid through Westpac. You will need to confirm this with your remitting bank.

2. How do I convert GBP (£) or EUR (€) to Australian Dollars?

  • Once your funds are in your Westpac GBP (£) or EUR (€) account, you will be able to convert your funds to AUD ($) by following these instructions via your Westpac Live Online Banking.

    • Your Westpac profile has already been updated to receive discounted FX rates.**
      • If you do not have online or mobile banking, and have opened an account through an Australian branch or our London team, then you can arrange transfer by:
      • In London – call 0207 621 7222.
      • In Australia – have your branch contact the Sydney financial markets dealing room for a rate and have them advise the team that you receive an AUPREMIUM exchange rate.

**Discounted FX rates are only available for transactions made between Monday 6.00am – Saturday 7.00am AESDT. Please contact us if you would like to be removed from this service and be able to transfer at Retail FX rates 24 hours, 7 days a week.
