The Westpac iPhone Mobile Banking app version 10.2.0 and above checks the security of your Wi-Fi network connection when attempting to sign in. To help protect you and your banking, the app may prompt you regarding the Wi-Fi network that you are using as it may be monitored or pose a possible security risk to you and your banking.
Trusted Wi-Fi (also known as certificate pinning or public key pinning)
|Wi-Fi at home
|You are highly unlikely to be prompted when using a Wi-Fi connection at home.
|Publicly available Wi-Fi connection (such as at a café, hotel or shopping centre)
|The public Wi-Fi network that you are using may be monitored or pose a possible security risk to you and your banking.
You are strongly recommended to tap ‘Cancel’ and change to mobile data to sign in to your banking instead.
This helps ensure the security of your personal information including passwords / security codes, as well as helping your accounts remain secure.
|Wi-Fi connection at their workplace
|Some employers monitor Wi-Fi usage for security purposes. In this situation, you may be prompted each time you sign in to Westpac Mobile Banking.
You should only tap the ‘Trust Wi-Fi’ button if you are confident that your employer’s Wi-Fi connection is safe.
It is recommended that you tap 'Cancel' and change to mobile data to sign in if you are unsure of the security of the network.
