Westpac support for customers impacted by North Queensland Floods

3 February 2025

Westpac is providing support for customers affected by flooding in North Queensland.

“It’s heartbreaking seeing communities in North Queensland facing another flood event. We know these communities are incredibly resilient, and while the situation is continuing to develop, our message to our customers, businesses, communities and team in the region is that we’re here to help,” said Ross Miller, Chief Customer Engagement Officer at Westpac.

“As with any flood event, we won’t know the extent of the situation for a few days, but we offer a range of support including flexibility with home loan, credit card and business loan repayments to help impacted customers get back on their feet.”

“Right now, safety must be the number one priority but if you need help, give us a call and talk to one of our specialist team – we’re here to help with tailored support options,” said Mr Miller.

Support available for affected customers:

  • Home loan customers may apply to defer repayments.
  • Customers with home and contents insurance may be eligible to make a claim.
  • Credit card customers may apply to defer repayments to their card, while customers experiencing hardship may also be offered a halt on all interest accrual on unsecured credit products for a period.
  • Term deposit customers experiencing hardship may apply to waive the minimum notice period to access funds prior to maturity.
  • Business loan customers may apply to defer repayments.
  • Business customers with merchant facilities may be eligible to receive assistance, including monthly terminal fee refunds.
