As the application process for overseas applicants is quite different to the process for Australian citizens and residents, it is important that you only apply by completing the procedure below.
Who can apply
To apply for a Westpac Choice or Westpac eSaver account you need to:
- Open the account before you relocate to Australia
- Be relocating permanently or for a minimum of 12 months
- Arrive in Australia and complete an identity check within 90 days of application
- Be at least 12 years of age.

What happens next?
Once we have approved your application, we will open your account and notify you by mail within 5 to 15 business days.
You can make any number of deposits into your account before arriving in Australia using Telephone Banking and Online Banking. You won't be able to withdraw funds until you have been identified.
Complete your identity check in Australia within 90 days of your application. If you need to withdraw funds before coming to Australia you may be able to complete the identity check overseas.
