Sustainability Reports
Setting out The Westpac Group's leading performance indicators, the 2009 Annual Review and Sustainability Report emphasises the links between sustainability and shareholder value.
The report reflects the work to embed sustainability thinking more broadly into the business. The combined report demonstrates the integration of sustainability into strategy and operations.
Highlights include:
- Progress on the merger with St.George Bank and multiple brand strategy
- The inclusion of sustainability criteria into major project funding decisions and product development processes
- The support for customers experiencing financial hardship following the financial crisis
- The work to help customers’ transition to a low carbon economy
- Progress on the five-year sustainability strategy and, for the first time, long-term targets for each of the sustainability focus areas
- Podcasts with independent expert views on major sustainability issues
- Downloadable files with all the facts and figures on performance.
The report includes information across all the brands in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
The Westpac Group continues to use the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 framework and Financial Sector Supplement as our guiding framework. As in previous years, both the report and Group’s underlying policies, systems and processes have been independently tested applying the AA1000 Assurance Standard.
