What's this program about?

As technology continues to disrupt the customers’ banking experience more rapidly than ever, we need talent to build our capabilities through software engineering.

You will get great exposure to the full lifecycle of software development processes from initiation, solutioning, all the way through to maintenance, and upgrades of components.

A dev ops focus lets you build your automation skillset, understand delivery pipelines for the enterprise, and find better ways to reduce the challenges for our developers.

You will join our Platform team for 12 months focused on building out your knowledge in software engineering principles such as coding, code management and automation testing. You will be surrounded by teams, managers and senior leadership who are passionate technologists, and who are invested in your development. Who we want

Choose one of our Specialist Technology Programs if you’re clear on your future role in technology. To start, you will need a STEM degree and background. Then, we will provide you with a technical, capability-focused program to build specific skills through hands-on experience in a specific function of tech at Westpac.

This program has been designed for you to get straight into a defined role and team for an extended period of time, but still not lose the perks of a grad program, including the connection to a larger cohort and direct access to our leadership team.

What our graduates have to say

“I studied a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Master of Biomedical Engineering at UNSW and, in my spare time, I love to climb (mainly bouldering) both indoors and outdoors.

I may be a Technology grad but I also enjoy photography and create videos in my spare time!

Westpac Group really appealed to me for three primary reasons; the first would be that the purpose and values of the organisation really resonate with me. Secondly, the support of women (internal and external to the organisation), exemplified through strong female leadership and the Ruby Connection Community is also extremely attractive. Lastly, I wanted to apply due to the organisations’ willingness to help and support the community – through environmental initiatives and the Westpac choppers.

I chose to apply for the Technology Graduate stream because I’m intrigued by the various applications and developments of technology within the world of finance. As technology becomes ever present within our lives, I think it’s interesting to learn about how technology can be leveraged to provide seamless experiences for both internal and external stakeholders.”

Rianna, 2021 Technology Graduate
