Who should apply for this program?

Have you ever thought about how rapidly advancing technology will impact the workforce of the future? Are you ready to master balancing cutting-edge technology skills with ever evolving demands? Do you want to join a world leading Robotics & Intelligent Automation Services (RiAS) team? If yes, then this is the graduate program for you!

What's this program about?

Robotics & Intelligent Automation is a strategic priority for Westpac. At the very core of RiAS we build, maintain, and improve automations in the bank that have material impacts to customer satisfaction. As technology continues to disrupt, we harness these new technologies and develop them into intelligent automations. This allows us to deliver efficiencies by ‘taking the robot out of the human’ and letting our people add value where it really matters. We offer rotations across all functions of our team so that you can experience all that robotics has to offer.

How does it work?

You will join the team for a 12-month program focused on building your automation skills. Through a carefully designed graduate academy, you’ll rotate through our core functions of design, develop, and run across our full stack of intelligent automation technologies. As a RiAS Grad, you’ll be surrounded by buddies, teams, managers, and senior leadership who are invested in your development. Join the growing number of graduates who have successfully completed the RiAS program and are now permanent members of the team. We have a large cohort of peers to share the experience with and regular social opportunities to get involved and network with the wider team.

Apply for the Robotics & Automation Specialist program if you want to

  • Be exposed to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and various cognitive services
  • Receive globally recognised robotic accreditations and accelerate your learning and development in a rapidly growing, yet still niche industry
  • Develop automations that make material impacts to customer satisfaction
  • Join a global award winning, internationally recognised team.

Future career opportunities:

  • Robotics & Intelligent Automation Developer
  • Robotics & Intelligent Automation Manager
  • Robotics & Intelligent Automation Delivery Manager.

What our graduates have to say

I studied Computing and Software Systems at the University of Melbourne, so I knew I wanted to be in the software engineering realm. I have always been interested in the intersection of technology and finance, but I wasn’t sure what role I suited best. The specialist engineering program allowed me to do my rotations in engineering teams but also offered the flexibility of being able to learn about different roles within the team.

In one of my rotations, I got to work in a UI engineering team so I was able to design and program my designs, without prior experience in both designing and the programming language. The grad program lets you experiment and drive your career.

Since rolling off the program…

I work as a Systems Analyst for the Westpac Banking app in the Consumer Digital Technology space. As an analyst I get to use my technical knowledge to be an intermediary between the business and technical teams, as we develop new features for the app for a better customer experience.

Before the graduate program I thought I wouldn’t enjoy this type of role, but I got the opportunity to try the role in a rotation and it completely changed my perspective.

As a specialist grad, I got a more detailed understanding of the Banking app, and developed my confidence in my communication and career.
