Overseas travel insurance
For overseas trips up to 6 months, overseas travel insurance includes cover for:
- Specified medical expenses incurred overseas
- Unexpected cancellation of travel arrangements
- Up to $20,000 per person cover for loss or damage to personal property
- Up to $550 per person for loss or damage to travel documents
- Limit of $2.5 million of personal liability cover
- Up to $5,500 rental vehicle excess cover as specified in the policy for loss or damage to rental vehicle.

Transit accident insurance
Up to $500,000 transit accident insurance cover against specified accidental death or injury when sustained while riding as a passenger in a plane, bus, train or ferry when you have purchased the tickets for the journey using either one of your Altitude Black cards before you leave.
Purchase security insurance
4 months cover against loss, theft or accidental damage for a range of personal items purchased in Australia and overseas provided the item is purchased using either one of your Altitude Black cards.

|Foreign transaction fee||A Foreign Transaction Fee is payable as a percentage of the Australian dollar value of any Foreign Transaction. The percentage will vary depending on the applicable credit card scheme:
|Cash advances/withdrawals fee||
An administrative charge of 2% of the value of the transaction will apply to each cash advance made on your card account, where your account has a negative (debit) balance after the transaction has been posted to it. A minimum charge of $2.50 and a maximum charge of $150 will apply in these circumstances.
Where your account has a positive (credit) balance after the transaction has been posted to it, a charge of $2.50 will apply to the transaction.
These charges will appear on your credit card statement directly below the relevant cash advance.
|Missed payment charge||A charge of $9 may be payable each statement cycle that the whole of the minimum monthly payment is not paid by the statement due date. If charged, the Missed Payment Charge will be debited to your account.|
|Over-limit fee||If your card account was opened before 4 June 2012, a fee of $9 may be debited from your credit card account every time you exceed your credit limit during a statement cycle. It is debited from your account in that statement cycle, on or after the day(s) your credit limit is exceeded. Overseas travel insurance eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this complimentary overseas travel insurance, before leaving Australia on an overseas journey, you must have a return overseas travel ticket, and need to have prepaid at least AUD$500 of your travel costs using your eligible card.
If you are eligible for overseas travel insurance, your spouse and/or dependent children also become eligible provided:
- They are travelling with you for the entire journey
- They each have a return overseas travel ticket
- AUD$500 of each of their prepaid travel costs has been charged to your Altitude Black credit card.
Please note for overseas travel insurance, the cover is only available to persons up to and including 80 years of age.
American Express® Lounge: Start your journey in style at the American Express Lounge next to Gate 24 at Sydney International Airport. Simply swipe your Altitude Black American Express Card at the Lounge Reception for complimentary entry up to two times a calendar year. For more information see full terms and conditions.
Priority Pass Membership: To enrol, go to altitudeblack.com.au. Lounge usage in excess of two visits and all guest visits will be charged directly to your Altitude Black American Express Card at the visit fee of currently US$27 per person, per visit. The first two visits within each 12 month membership period are complimentary to the primary cardholder only, after which every visit would be charged as per the prevailing rates. Any accompanying guests will be charged US$27 per visit, which will be automatically charged on the cardholder's Altitude Black American Express Card. The date of visits determines which year of membership the visit is allocated to. Unused visits cannot be carried forward to the following year of membership. Each year you will receive two complimentary lounge invitations once you have made the required spend on selected Qantas products and services.
Qantas Club Lounge Invitations are provided courtesy of Westpac, and are valid for Qantas Club and Qantas operated International Business Lounges only. Qantas Club Lounge invitations will not be issued to customers who do not first register at loungepass.altitudeblack.com.au prior to making the eligible card spend.
Things you should know
Credit criteria, fees and charges apply. Offers are not available in conjunction with any special offers that are not listed on www.westpac.com.au. Switches, upgrades, customers accessing employee benefits or packaged cards are ineligible.
Be credit savvy: Before applying, consider a realistic credit limit and check all conditions, interest rates, fees and charges on your selected card.
Bonus points promotion: The bonus points promotion is available when you apply for a new Altitude Platinum, or Altitude Black card between 12th October 2016 and 30th January 2017 and spend the minimum amount of $2500 on eligible purchases within 90 days from card approval on one or more transactions. Eligible purchases do not include BPAY transaction, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account.
Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer. The bonus Altitude Points or Qantas Points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria being met.
Rewards Points: The earning and redemption of Altitude Points and Qantas Points is subject to the Altitude Rewards and Altitude Qantas Terms and Conditions. You do not receive points if your card account is in arrears for 2 consecutive statement cycles and in other circumstances. For each statement cycle a points cap of 5,000 Altitude Points or 2,500 Qantas Points applies when using either or both cards. Bonus points do not count towards the points cap.

Altitude Rewards: You must be a member of the relevant frequent flyer program to redeem Altitude Points for frequent flyer points. Altitude Qantas: In order to earn and redeem points, you must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.
Qantas & Partner Classic Reward Seats are subject to capacity controls and availability is limited. The number of seats available depends on the flight, date, season and destination. Some flights may not have any Classic Reward seats available. For Classic Reward flights, taxes, fees and carrier charges are payable in addition to the points required, are subject to change and are quoted at the time of booking. Reward flights must be booked at least 24 hours before scheduled departure (and other advance booking requirements may apply).
Flight Upgrades are subject to capacity controls and availability is limited. Flight upgrades are not available on Classic Rewards or on international airfares booked in E, N, O, P, Q, and X class (which includes some Any Seat Rewards and some Red e-Deals). You must have an eligible paid and confirmed ticket on a Qantas operated service (with a QF flight number on your ticket).
Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Rewards are available on any flight with a QF or JQ flight number. The points required will be quoted when booked. There is no fixed relationship between the cash price charges by the applicable airline for a seat and the points required to redeem an Any Seat Reward through Qantas Frequent Flyer. Special promotional fares may not apply. Reward flights must be booked at least 24 hours before scheduled departure (and other advanced booking requirements may apply).
