Trusted Wi-Fi detection 

The Westpac app checks the security of your Wi-Fi network connection when attempting to sign in. We may send you a prompt if we detect that the Wi-Fi network could be unsafe or pose as a possible security risk to you and your banking.

Westpac SaferPay

A first in Australia, this feature is designed to enable you to quickly provide us with additional information about your payment. These questions will be dynamic and customised for each payment, ensuring a thorough and effective assessment of the risk of a scam. 

Digital Card

It’s a digital version of your card, with the added security of a dynamic CVC that updates every 24 hours helping to reduce the risk of fraudulent card activity by 80%. Use it to shop online and pay bills.

Westpac Verify

We will notify you of potential account and name discrepancies when adding new payee details. This could help you spot potential fraudulent accounts, help guard you against suspicious activity such as payment redirection scams or highlight other concerns.

Security Code

Set up Westpac Protect™ Security Code for added fraud prevention when banking online. Receive a One-Time Password to your registered security device to authorise certain transactions and features, giving you greater peace of mind when banking online.

Smart Verify

Save a trip to the branch by verifying your identity with your smartphone camera. It’s fast, secure and simple.

Credit/Debit Card Protection

Our card protection technology will automatically block suspicious transactions that are deemed to be high-risk of fraud. In addition, the One-Time Password feature will help enhance your card security when shopping online. 

Qualifying for our security guarantees

Your Online Banking and Credit Card transactions have unique security guarantees, helping to protect you from fraud. Fraud is when someone gains access to your accounts or details for the purpose of making illegal transactions.

If your Westpac account is compromised as a result of online fraud, we guarantee to repay any missing funds or unauthorised transactions provided you comply with our Online Banking Terms and Conditions.

Have not voluntarily participated in the transaction

Have not shared your sign in details or security codes

Immediately informed us of any unauthorised activity

Things you should know

Westpac’s Online Banking Security Guarantee - If your Westpac account is compromised as a result of Internet fraud, we guarantee to repay any missing funds, providing you comply with our Online Banking Terms and Conditions. This includes keeping your sign-in details (including passwords, Westpac Protect™ SMS codes and SecurID® Token codes) private. You must inform us immediately if you suspect the security of your access details has been compromised, or you suspect an unauthorised transaction or potential fraud on your accounts.

Westpac Fraud Money Back Guarantee - Our Westpac Fraud Money Back Guarantee ensures that you will be reimbursed for any unauthorised card transactions provided that you have not contributed to the loss and contacted Westpac promptly. Refer to your card’s conditions of use for full details, including when you will be liable.
