How does integration work?  

  1. Your POS calculates the bill and sends the total amount to your EFTPOS machine
  2. Card payment is taken at the counter or table
  3. Transactions appear on your Presto Dashboard almost instantly – and you can monitor EFTPOS machine battery life and internet status there too
  4. After settling, you can access your daily takings instantly via your Westpac bank account2

My name's Alex Williams. I co-founded Dachshund Coffee with my twin brother. We've been in business for seven years, and the main reason for starting it was because we love people and we love food. The reason we called our business Dachshund Coffee was because we were looking for something fun and memorable.

So, before we got Presto Smart, we'd often experience staff members incorrectly putting in the wrong amount, either overcharging or undercharging. We had to manually reconcile. That made the process a little bit more clunky, and user error happened when doing that. Now that we have it automatically reconciled, it makes the process a lot smoother.  

We chose Presto Smart because it integrated with (our) Kounta (point of sale system) seamlessly. A transaction example would be a customer coming to order a coffee. I select the coffee in the point of sale, I then hit the Presto Smart button. The information gets sent to the terminal and the customer taps their card. I give them their coffee and the transaction is completed.

The benefits of integration are that user error's no longer a problem; transaction speed has gone up; and it just makes life a lot easier. On Saturdays when it's really busy, not having to key the details into the EFTPOS terminal saves us time and allows us to serve more customers quickly. 

We collect 75% of our transactions via card. For that reason, we need a reliable terminal and Westpac offers that. Another reason we switched to Westpac was the pricing structure that they offered. When we compared it to what we were paying previously, it was a lot better. Dealing with the Westpac sales team was fantastic. Very easy, seamless. They got us on board really quickly with very little paperwork.

The advice that we give to business owners is to think about how they use their time. Technology has enabled me to be more productive and has increased efficiencies within our business.

1. This functionality is POS dependent.
 

2. Westpac instant settlement functionality is not available between 9:30 pm and 11:59 pm (Presto Smart terminals) and between 9:30 pm and 11:00 pm (EFTPOS Now, EFTPOS Now with Presto, EFTPOS Flex and EFTPOS Connect terminals) - Sydney time. You can only perform a settlement once a day, before 9:30 pm (Sydney time). A settlement done after 11:00 pm for EFTPOS Now, EFTPOS Now with Presto, EFTPOS Flex and EFTPOS Connect terminals and after 11:59 pm for Presto Smart terminals, will be processed as a settlement for the next day. Subject to system availability, settlement can take place 7 days a week. Settlement must be to an eligible Westpac transaction account. Instant Settlement functionality is not available on Corporate Online. Instant Settlement is only available for Mastercard®, Visa® and eftpos transactions (plus UnionPay if using EFTPOS Connect).

3. The Point of Sale solutions are supplied by POS providers, not Westpac. Westpac does not guarantee or endorse those products and any related services. You can find out if your POS is compatible with Presto Smart.  
 

4.Our 1.2% flat transaction rate applies to eftpos, Mastercard ®, Visa and UnionPay but not to American Express, Diners Club or JCB cards. A 1.4% EFTPOS Air flat rate applies to eftpos, Mastercard® and Visa payments only, by card, mobile wallet or wearable.
 
5.Fees may be charged for chargebacks that are deemed to be excessive by us. You will be notified in writing one month prior to the fee being charged.
 

# If you want to accept American Express, you'll need to call 1300 363 614 to enter into a separate merchant agreement with American Express.
