Ready to apply for a merchant service?

Am I eligible?

  • Your business needs to be registered in Australia
  • If you already have a Merchant ID number and you'd like to switch or add another Merchant facility, please call us on 1800 029 749 (8am - 8pm, Mon - Fri) or visit your nearest branch
  • Additionally, if you intend to accept online payments:
    • All prices must be in Australian dollars
    • You must settle your funds into a Westpac transaction account
    • You will need to have a website domain name which closely matches your registered business name.

What information do I need?

  • Your business details, including Australian Business Number (ABN), business structure, registered address and principal place of business
  • Financial information, including yearly turnover and average transaction value
  • Depending on your business structure, details of every director, partner or trustee including date of birth, residence type and occupation.

What happens after I apply?

  • If you submitted your application online, we'll contact you within 24-48 hours to confirm the information and that the chosen product is the most suitable for your business
  • Once the application is complete (and we may request additional information to finalise this, like bank statements if your accounts are held at another bank), we'll email or post the application for you to review and sign
  • We can only fully assess your application when all documents are returned. In effect, receiving a Merchant facility means you have the ability to issue payment instructions on behalf of card holders, which is why the assessment process and timeframe can be quite thorough. We may take security over the deposit account.
