Comparing business rewards credit card programs

Whether it's flights and upgrades, to gift vouchers, merchandise and travel insurance, it can be difficult choosing which business rewards card is right for you. Here’s what you need to know about our two rewards programs.

Altitude Business Rewards Qantas Business Rewards

Available on both the Altitude Business Gold card and Platinum card, this program allows you to earn and redeem points for merchandise such as cinemas passes, coffee machines, home audio equipment, outdoor furniture, travel and more7.

The Altitude Business cards allows you to have 2 cardholders per account.

Available on the BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum card, this program allows your business to earn uncapped Qantas Points into your Qantas Business Rewards account from the first dollar spent on the card1. Qantas Points earned can be transferred to any Qantas Frequent Flyer account and redeemed for flights, upgrades and over 7,000 items from the Qantas Store2.
 

The BusinessChoice Platinum account allows up to 10 cardholders and each card can be set with an individual card limit (up to business account limit); making it easy to control spend and track individual activity.

How to earn Altitude Points

It’s really straightforward. Every time you buy something using your card, you could earn points. The number of points you earn depends on the type of card used and the purchase being made.

Points earned per $1 spent on eligible business purchases are as follows:

There’s no limit to the number of Altitude Points you can earn each statement cycle when using one or both of your Altitude Business Platinum cards.

A cap of 20,000 points applies when using one or both Altitude Business Gold credit cards in each statement cycle.
 

However, bonus points do not count towards the points cap.

How to earn Qantas Points

First of all, your business must sign up to Qantas Business Rewards. The usual join fee of $89.50 is waived for new BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum cardholders. All businesses with an ABN are eligible to join.
 

Then, each time you use your card for business expenses you can earn Qantas Points – expenses can include government payments to agencies such as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
 

Your staff will earn Qantas Points and Status Credits as Qantas Frequent Flyer members. By adding their Qantas Frequent Flyer numbers and your business' ABN into bookings, your business will also earn Qantas Points from eligible flights on top of the flyers' Qantas Points.
 

Qantas points earned per $1.50 spent on eligible business purchases are as follows:

There’s no limit to the number of Qantas points you can earn each statement cycle when using your BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum credit cards.

Altitude Business Rewards Qantas Business Rewards

There are a few ways you can redeem your points – it all depends on the reward you’re after. You can:
 

Pay with Points

This gives you an almost unlimited choice with using your points. How? Just choose any card purchase you’ve made in the last 90 days (excluding BPAY®) and get a credit on your statement for that transaction value with your Altitude Points. Conditions apply.
 

Points plus pay

If you see something you want, but don’t have enough Altitude Points – Points plus pay lets you use the points you have and you can make up the difference with a credit or debit payment. And if you pay the remaining balance using your Altitude Business Visa credit card, you’ll earn Altitude Points. Conditions apply for that payment.
 

Shop on the Altitude Rewards website

Whether it’s technology, fitness, electrical goods or movie tickets/experiences you are after – the site has many leading brands you can buy from, using your points. You can also donate to charity this way7.
 

Altitude Travel

Use your points to book any available flight or holiday package, hotel, car hire and/or activity on this online booking website. Conditions apply.
 

Build up your frequent flyer points

Here you can choose to convert your points to frequent flyer points if you’re a member of one of the following programs7:

  • Qantas Frequent Flyer
  • Virgin Australia's Velocity
  • Malaysia Airline's Enrich
  • Air New Zealand Airpoints
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles.


Virgin Australia’s Velocity Auto-Redemption

This is where you can automatically convert your points to Velocity Frequent Flyer Points. Once you set up your account, you’ll see each month on your statement date that your Altitude Points balance has automatically transferred to your Velocity Frequent Flyer Account. Conditions apply.


Top up your super

If you have a BT Super for Life you can transfer your Altitude Points for dollars into your superannuation account. Conditions apply.


Complimentary Overseas Travel Insurance

Travel knowing that you, your family (your spouse and certain dependent children) and your possessions are covered against injury, loss, theft or damage for up to 3 months in accordance with the policy6. Terms and conditions apply. (PDF 238KB)

Choose who’s rewarded

Your business earns Qantas Points in one central Qantas Business Rewards account, which can be transferred into any Qantas Frequent Flyer account of your choice. Once transferred, the points can be used to reward yourself, your staff or to save on business expenses. Explore rewards

Protect your business against unauthorised transactions

Receive automatic protection (up to $20,000 per cardholder and $150,000 per account holder) against unauthorised transactions made by cardholders in a 12 month period (if you are the principal and the account holder of the card) with Account holder's Unauthorised Transaction insurance6 (PDF 238KB).

1 Qantas Points A business must be a Qantas Business Rewards Member to earn Qantas Points for business. A one-off join fee of $89.50 including GST normally applies, however businesses that are not members of Qantas Business Rewards program at the time of application for a BusinessChoice card facility will be offered complimentary membership upon approval of a new Westpac BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum credit card facility. Membership and Qantas Points are subject to the Qantas Business Rewards Terms and Conditions. Qantas Points for business are offered under the Westpac Terms and Conditions (PDF 6MB). Members will earn 1 Qantas Point for every $1.50 spent on eligible business purchases. Eligible business purchases do not include government charges, interest and other bank fees and charges, cash advances, balance transfers, BPAY payments and if the Billing Account is in arrears or over limit on the posting date of a transaction. Qantas Points will be credited to the Members' Business Rewards account within 60 days of the first eligible purchase or card account has been linked to the BusinessChoice rewards facility. You do not earn Qantas Points on use of a card or card account where for that statement period, a Billing Account or card account is in arrears or over limit at the end of that statement period. Any Qantas Points earned in that relevant statement period will be forfeited. Any claims in relation to Qantas Points under this offer must be made directly to Westpac by calling 1300 367 228.


2 Using Qantas Points
You must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member to earn and redeem Qantas Points. A joining fee may apply. Membership and the earning and redemption of Qantas Points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program Terms and Conditions. Qantas Business Rewards Members must transfer Qantas Points to individual Qantas Frequent Flyer account/s for redemption. We recommend you consult your accountant or tax adviser to ensure you understand possible tax implications, for example fringe benefits tax (if applicable).


3 Earning twice on flights
A business must be a Qantas Business Rewards Member and registered for GST or be an Australian Public or Private entity or other incorporated company, and not be a travel agent or on a Corporate Deal with Qantas to earn Qantas Points for the business. A one-off join fee of $89.50 applies, is inclusive of any applicable GST and may be varied by Qantas from time to time, without notice, in its absolute discretion. Qantas Points for business are offered under the Qantas' Terms and Conditions and earning thresholds apply. Qantas Points earned on air travel are determined in accordance with the airline earn table. A Member's ABN and traveller's Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number must be quoted at the time of booking to earn Qantas Points for both the business and the traveller. An eligible flight means a domestic or international flight which has a Qantas 'QF' flight number on the ticket that is purchased in Australia; is operated by Qantas, Emirates or American Airlines; has a ticket number commencing with '081'; and is booked and travelled for business on or after the date the business registers for Qantas Business Rewards. Exclusions apply.

You must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member to earn Qantas Points. A joining fee may apply. Membership and Qantas Points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program Terms and Conditions. Qantas Points and Status Credits (where applicable) are earned on eligible flights with a Qantas or applicable oneworld® Alliance Airline or Airline Partner flight number on your ticket. Qantas Points and Status Credits may not be earned on some fare types and booking classes. 4 Flight savings
Savings are available exclusively to Qantas Business Rewards Members on selected fares only and do not apply to taxes, fees and carrier charges. Availability is limited. Advance purchase and other conditions may apply. Savings are subject to and defined in the terms and conditions of Qantas Business Rewards as Member Savings.


5 Qantas Club membership
Discounted Qantas Club membership is available to Qantas Frequent Flyer members who are Qantas Business Rewards Flyers of the Qantas Business Rewards. The discount applies to the Qantas Club individual membership rates on new and subsequent memberships and is managed under the Qantas Club individually managed corporate scheme. Qantas Club membership is subject to the Qantas Club Terms and Conditions.


6 Complimentary insurance covers (effective 1 October 2017):
 AWP Australia Pty Ltd, ABN 52 097 227 177, AFSL 245631, of 74 High Street, Toowong, QLD 4066 (trading as Allianz Global Assistance) under a binder from the underwriter, Allianz Australia Insurance Limited ABN 15 000 122 850, AFSL 234708, has issued an insurance group policy to Westpac Banking Corporation ABN 33 007 457 141 AFSL and Australian credit licence 233714 (Westpac), of 275 Kent Street, Sydney, NSW 2000 which allows eligible Westpac account holders and cardholders to claim under it as third party beneficiaries. The terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of the group policy are set out in the Westpac Business Credit Cards Complimentary Insurance Policy which may be amended from time to time. Altitude Business Gold and Platinum Cards

Annual card fee: For Altitude Business Platinum and Altitude Business Gold credit cards, the annual card fee covers all cards associated with the product. For BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum and BusinessChoice Everyday credit cards, an annual card fee is payable for each card associated with the facility.


7 Earning and redeeming Altitude reward points:
 You can earn and redeem Altitude rewards points as set out in the Altitude Business Rewards Terms and Conditions (PDF 113KB) (PDF 81KB). You do not receive points if your card account is in arrears for 2 consecutive statement cycles and in other circumstances. Altitude reward points do not expire while you remain an Altitude card holder. You must be a member of the relevant frequent flyer program to redeem Altitude points for frequent flyer points. The terms and conditions of the relevant frequent flyer programs also apply. A joining fee may apply for these frequent flyer programs. Availability of award flights may be limited.
