Comparing business rewards credit card programs

Whether it's flights and upgrades, to gift vouchers, merchandise and travel insurance, it can be difficult choosing which business rewards card is right for you. Here’s what you need to know about our two rewards programs.

Altitude Business Rewards Qantas Business Rewards

Available on both the Altitude Business Gold Mastercard® and Altitude Platinum Mastercard®, this program allows you to earn and redeem points for merchandise such as cinemas passes, coffee machines, home audio equipment, outdoor furniture, travel and more7.

The Altitude Business cards allows you to have 2 cardholders per account.

Available on the BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Mastercard® card, this program allows your business to earn Qantas Points into your Qantas Business Rewards account from the first dollar spent on the card1. Qantas Points earned by your business can be transferred to any Frequent Flyer account. You can redeem Qantas Points to reward your employees or yourself with flights, upgrades, and much more2. For more information on redeeming Qantas Points visit qantas.com/usingpoints
 

The BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Mastercard account allows up to 10 cardholders and each card can be set with an individual card limit (up to business account limit); making it easy to control spend and track individual activity.

How to earn Altitude Points

It’s really straightforward. Every time you buy something using your card, you could earn points. The number of points you earn depends on the type of card used and the purchase being made.

Points earned per $1 spent on eligible business purchases are as follows:
 

Altitude Business Platinum Mastercard

There’s no limit to the number of Altitude Points you can earn each statement cycle when using your Altitude Business Platinum Mastercard.
 

Altitude Business Gold Mastercard

A cap of 20,000 points applies when using your Altitude Business Gold Mastercard in each statement cycle.
 

However, bonus points do not count towards the points cap.

How to earn Qantas Points

Simply join Qantas Business Rewards and provide the same ABN you provide to Qantas to Westpac. All businesses with an ABN are eligible to join. The usual one-off join fee of $89.50 is waived for new BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Mastercard® cardholders..
 

Then, each time you use your card for business expenses you can earn Qantas Points – expenses can include government payments to agencies such as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
 

Qantas Points earned per $1.50 spent on eligible business purchases are as follows:

There are a few ways you can redeem your points – it all depends on the reward you’re after. You can:
 

Pay with Points

This gives you an almost unlimited choice with using your points. Just choose any card purchase you’ve made in the last 90 days (excluding BPAY®) and get a credit on your statement for that transaction value with your Altitude Points. Conditions apply.
 

Points plus pay

If you see something you want, but don’t have enough Altitude Points – Points plus pay lets you use the points you have and you can make up the difference with a credit or debit payment. And if you pay the remaining balance using your Altitude Business credit card, you’ll earn Altitude Points. Conditions apply for that payment.
 

Shop on the Altitude Rewards website

Whether it’s technology, fitness, electrical goods, movie tickets or experiences you’re after – the Altitude Rewards Program has many leading brands you an choose from, using your points. You can also donate to charity this way4.
 

Altitude Travel

Use your points to book any available flight or holiday package, hotel, car hire and/or activity. Conditions apply.
 

Build up your frequent flyer points

You can choose to convert your points to one of the following programs7:

  • Qantas Frequent Flyer
  • Virgin Australia's Velocity
  • Air New Zealand Airpoints
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles.


Virgin Australia’s Velocity Auto-Redemption

This is where you can automatically convert your points to Velocity Frequent Flyer Points. Once you set up your account, you’ll see each month on your statement date that your Altitude Points balance has automatically transferred to your Velocity Frequent Flyer Account. Conditions apply.

 

Complimentary 

International Travel Insurance

Access to up to 3 months' complimentary cover for International Travel Insurance when you meet the eligibility criteria as set out in the Credit Card Complimentary Insurance Policy including prepaying $500 of your travel costs to your eligible card and holding a return overseas ticket before departing Australia, (see policy document for full eligibility criteria, terms, conditions, and exclusions). *

1 Qantas Points A business must be a Qantas Business Rewards Member to earn Qantas Points for business. A one-off join fee of $89.50 including GST normally applies, however businesses that are not members of Qantas Business Rewards program at the time of application for a BusinessChoice card facility will be offered complimentary membership upon approval of a new Westpac BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Mastercard credit card facility. Membership and Qantas Points are subject to the Qantas Business Rewards Terms and Conditions. Qantas Points for business are offered under the Westpac Terms and Conditions (PDF 270KB). Qantas Points will be credited to the Members' Business Rewards account within 60 days of the first eligible purchase or card account has been linked to the BusinessChoice rewards facility. You do not earn Qantas Points on use of a card or card account where for that statement period, a Billing Account or card account is in arrears or over limit at the end of that statement period. Any Qantas Points earned in that relevant statement period will be forfeited. Any claims in relation to Qantas Points under this offer must be made directly to Westpac by calling 1300 367 228.

2 Using Qantas Points You must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member to earn and redeem Qantas Points. A joining fee may apply. Membership and the earning and redemption of Qantas Points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions available at qantas.com/terms. We recommend you consult your accountant or tax adviser to ensure you understand possible tax implications, for example fringe benefits tax (if applicable).


^Points Cap: For BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum cards, earn 0.75 Qantas Points per $1.50 spent on eligible business purchases and 0.5 Qantas Points per $1.50 spent on Government payments up to a maximum of 100,000 Qantas Points per facility per month. This limit resets each month based on your facility’s statement date. Bonus Points earned are not a part of your monthly cap.


In order to transfer Qantas Points from a Qantas Business Rewards account to an individual’s Qantas Frequent Flyer account, the business account must have a balance of at least 3,000 Qantas Points. You must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member to earn and redeem Qantas Points. A joining fee may apply. Membership and Qantas Points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program Terms and Conditions. We recommend you consult your accountant or tax adviser to ensure you understand possible tax implications, for example fringe benefits tax (if applicable).

# Discounted Qantas Club membership is available to Qantas Frequent Flyer members who are Qantas Business Rewards Flyers of the Qantas Business Rewards Member. The discount applies to the Qantas Club individual membership rates on new and subsequent memberships and is managed under the Qantas Club individually managed corporate scheme. Qantas Club membership is subject to the Qantas Club Terms and Conditions.

Altitude Business Gold Mastercard and Altitude Business Platinum Mastercard

Annual card fee: For Altitude Business Platinum Mastercard and Altitude Business Gold Mastercard credit cards, the annual card fee covers all cards associated with the product. For BusinessChoice Rewards Platinum Mastercard and BusinessChoice Everyday Mastercard credit cards, an annual card fee is payable for each card associated with the facility.


4 Earning and redeeming Altitude reward points:
 The earning and redemption of Altitude Points is subject to Westpac Altitude Business Rewards Terms and Conditions (PDF 2MB). The terms and conditions outline which purchases are eligible to earn points and the circumstances when you will not earn points, including when your account is overdue.
