Debit MasterCard® and Handycard
You'll have recently received a letter advising you that your Westpac Handycard has been replaced with a new Westpac Debit MasterCard which is ready to use right away. Its linked to the same account as your Handycard. It does everything your Handycard used to do - and more.
No change to your account
As your Westpac Debit MasterCard is already linked to the same account as your Handycard, there are no changes to your account. So any periodic payments you've set up will work as they always have. At the same time your Westpac Debit MasterCard offers you more ways to access your own money, plus even greater protection against fraud when making purchases.
More ways to use your own money
You can use your Westpac Debit MasterCard for everyday purchases such as groceries and petrol at restaurants and in shops and to make cash withdrawals at ATMs. In addition it also allows you to use your own money online and over the phone and gives you the convenience of MasterCard ® global acceptance at over 28 million locations and 900,000 ATMs worldwide.
Making best use of your Westpac Debit MasterCard
Press the CREDIT button for Falcon TM fraud protection* when making purchases
Pressing the CREDIT button when making everyday purchases or shopping online over the phone or overseas still gives you access to your own money - at no extra cost. It also means your transaction is protected by the Falcon TM security system. Falcon TM detects unusual account activity and helps guard against fraud providing protection 24/7. Westpac will notify you when unusual purchase activity is detected.
Plus, you'll also be covered against fraudulent transactions if details are used without your consent with MasterCard ® Zero Liability.
Even though you are pressing the CREDIT button you are still accessing your own money.
Press the CREDIT button when withdrawing cash at ATMs
You can withdraw cash from ATMs by pressing the CREDIT button, which you can also press for all other purchases.
When to press the CHEQUE button
When making a purchase and withdrawing cash at point of sale, press the CHEQUE button

Things you should know
Destroy your Handycard securely
When you receive your new Debit MasterCard make sure you cut up your old Handycard into several pieces and dispose of it securely.
Lost your Westpac Debit MasterCard and/or PIN
If you've lost your Westpac Debit MasterCard and/or corresponding PIN call 1300 651 089 immediately to ensure you receive a new one in time for you to continue accessing the money in your account.
When using your Westpac Debit MasterCard and/or PIN
Press CREDIT or CHEQUE to access your own funds.
When making a purchase and withdrawing cash at point of sale press CHEQUE. For all other transactions press CREDIT.
Press the CREDIT button when making purchases for Falcon TM fraud protection.
When pressing CREDIT you also have the option to either sign for your purchases or enter your PIN - whichever your prefer.
