Making payments

How can I pay my suppliers?

Make sure you’re paying your suppliers in an easy cost effective way.

Payment methods available are:

  • Cash
  • Cheques
  • Electronic transfers
  • Cards
  • BPAY ®

Ways you can pay

Cash

If you’re paying in cash you may be able to negotiate a discount, but you need to factor in the time involved accessing cash, and the risk of handling large sums of cash.

Use your Handycard or Business Debit MasterCard ® to access cash through our network of ATMs, or through our branch network.

Cheque

Cheques are more secure than cash, and we can stop them if you notify us before the cheque has been paid. Be aware that fees for using cheques are higher than for electronic transactions.

You can stop a cheque or order cheque books on an existing account through Business Telephone Banking.

Electronic transfer

It’s easy to make electronic payments using Online Banking or Telephone Banking. You may even be able to negotiate a discount by paying electronically as it works out cheaper for your supplier. And it’s simpler for you.

You can schedule payments up to 90 days in advance using Business Online.

If you make regular payments, you can set up periodical payments that trigger automatically through Business Online, Business Telephone Banking or at a branch. Since electronic payments are reflected in your account balance immediately, it’s easier to track where you’re at.

Tip: Make sure you get your suppliers' full account details including their branch number (BSB) in writing, to avoid any mistakes.

Card

Credit cards and Business Debit MasterCard are a convenient and flexible option for paying suppliers over the Internet, phone, or by mail order.

If you prefer to use your own funds from a linked business account with the same flexible payment methods, then look at our Business Debit MasterCard ®

If you prefer to use credit funds, then picking the right card comes down to liability. If the intended primary card holder;

BPAY ®

You can pay any supplier or creditor with the BPAY ® symbol by this method. It’s accessed through Business Online or Business Telephone Banking so it’s cost effective and convenient. You can also schedule BPAY ® payments up to 90 days in advance using Business Online.
