Our requirements of suppliers
From 1 January 2008, suppliers are required to be compliant with the standards set out in our SSCM Code of Conduct. Our SSCM Code of Conduct specifies the practices we favour in our suppliers and those we will not do without - our minimum standards. Higher risk and high spend suppliers are subject to an additional screening process (the SSCM Questionnaire).
At Westpac, we cannot contract out our responsibilities nor do we seek to. Instead we ask our suppliers the same questions we ask ourselves. Those who cannot answer these questions satisfactorily can pose as much risk to Westpac as if they were part of our company. Gaps in a supplier's performance must be rectified if Westpac is to minimise risks to its own sustainability.
