Westpac podcasts

What is a podcast?

A podcast is a way of automatically sending audio files to your computer for playback on your computer or on a portable MP3 player, such as an iPod.

To do this, you must subscribe to the podcast feed using podcasting software. When connected to the internet, the software searches for the latest edition of the podcast on our website, and will download it to your computer, ready for when you next plug-in your portable MP3 device.

You don't have to keep returning to the Westpac website to search for new podcasts. It happens automatically.

Step by step guide to getting Westpac podcasts

There are 3 simple steps involved in setting up your personal computer to receive podcasts.

Step 1 - Get some podcast software

You will need to install a piece of software that will search the web to find the latest Westpac podcast and automatically deliver it to your computer. The podcasting software is usually free. Some popular options include:

Step 2 - Subscribe to the Westpac podcast

Once you have the podcasting software installed, you can subscribe to the Westpac podcasts. How you do this will vary depending on which software you have chosen to install. It is unlikely that you will be able to find the Westpac podcast in the iTunes Podcast Directory.

You will most likely need to add the podcast "feed" to your software. How you do this will depend on your software, but you should look for links like "Add" or "Subscribe".

The feed is simply the address of the podcast, which your software will go to each time it checks for a new podcast.

The address for the Westpac podcast feed is:

Step 3 - Listen to the audio podcast

When a new podcast becomes available, your software will automatically download it to your computer. You can then listen to the podcast on your computer or transfer it to your mobile MP3 device.

Check the settings of your podcasting software for details including how often it will check for new podcasts and whether it will keep old podcasts for you.

Unsubscribing to Westpac podcasts should be easy. How you do this will depend on your software, but you should look for the "Clear" or "Unsubscribe" options.

All podcasts are also offered as direct MP3 downloads on our website. Look for links that start with "Listen to…". To download MP3 files directly, right-click on the link and select "Save target as". Alternatively you can click the link to listen to the MP3 file via your installed media player.
