About Westpac in Asia
Westpac's Asia strategy is to support our Australian and New Zealand customers in Asia. Additionally, we provide a gateway for Asian firms and individuals interested in Australia and New Zealand as well as facilitating the banking needs of Asian nationals migrating to Australia and New Zealand.
Leveraging our expert knowledge of our home markets and global network, we work with corporates and institutions in their cross-border activities in Australasia and beyond. Our experienced relationship managers provide the dedicated service you are familiar with from Westpac in Australia and New Zealand, in Asia.
Our Singapore branch office, which is our lead regional office in Asia, has been in operation since 1979. We have also had a branch office in Hong Kong since 1971. Our first branch office overseas in 15 years was opened in Shanghai in 2008, signifying the importance we see in the China market. Our newest branch office has recently opened in Beijing in June 2011, which was previously a representative office since 1982.
We have had representative offices in Jakarta since 1972 and opened a representative office in Mumbai in 2007.
Westpac Asia also works with in-country and regional referral bank partners in those countries where Westpac does not have a specific capability or a physical presence.
