Personal Loan application checklist

1. The Income & Employment Verification

If you are an existing Westpac account holder, we will endeavour to verify your income via the deposits in your account. If we are unable to do so, please refer to the below:
 

Employment type Send this documentation
Full time/part-time & casual* employment
  • Your two most recent consecutive computer generated payslips less than 60 days old
*If your employment status is casual, your payslips must also include a YTD income amount

Or
  • Your most recent bank statement(s), covering  the last three month period
Self Employed  
  • Your most recent Notice of Assessment (must be issued within the last Financial Year). Please black out your Tax File Number
    and
  • Your last two months of  business bank statements
Rental Income
  • Most recent bank statement covering the last 3 months with detailed narrative confirming recent rental deposits
    Or
  • Your most recent Notice of Assessment (issued within the last Financial Year) and Tax Return
Australian Government Allowance/Overseas Pension*
  •  Your most recent bank statement(s), issued within the last three months showing your Australian Government Allowance/Overseas pension deposited into your account

    Or

 

  • A letter or statement from the Government authority confirming entitlements and income

    Or

  •  Your Centrelink statement showing your overseas pension is declared to Centrelink
     
Retirement Income
  • Your most recent Notice of Assessment/ Annual Investment Statement (issued within the last Financial Year)

    Or

  • Bank statements covering the last 3 months with detailed narrative confirming recent Superannuation/Investments deposits
Spousal / Maintenance Income
  • A copy of Family Law Court order or Letter from Child Support Agency

    and

  • Your most recent bank statements, issued within the last three months, showing recent and regular income deposits

2. Identity verification

Please visit your local Westpac branch as soon as possible and provide:

One item of identification from each of the categories listed below or two items of identification from Table A - Primary identification document category.

Current Australian passport (can either be current of expired within the last 2 years. Must not be cancelled, defaced or mutilated) Australian Taxation Office (ATO) notice issued within the last 12 months which shows your name and residential address
Foreign passport (can either be current or expired within the last 2 years. Must not be cancelled, defaced or mutilated) Financial benefits notice issued by Commonwealth, State or Territory government issued within the last 12 months which shows your name residential address (e.g. notice from Centrelink)
Foreign travel documents (issued by a foreign government, the United Nations, or agency of the United Nations) Financial institution passbook (Australian which must be current and have a black light signature)
Australian boat license Utilities notice issued by a local government or utilities provider within the last 3 months which shows your name and residential address
Australian taxi license Centrelink health care card
Centrelink pension card Australian Marriage certificate
Department of Veterans pension card Medicare card
Keypass Photo ID card Commonwealth seniors health card or state seniors card
18+ proof of age card  
National identify card (issued by a foreign government, the United Nations or an agency of the United Nations)  
NSW RMS photo card or proof of age card  

3. Residential address verification

Please provide the following documentation for verification:

Secured personal loan:

  • Australian Driver’s Licence Must be current and not expired
    • Must show your current residential address as provided on your application
    • Front and back copies lightened and enlarged 200%
       

Unsecured personal loan: Please provide the following documentation for verification:

  • Australian Driver’s Licence or Proof of Age Card
    • Must be current and not expired
    • Must show your current residential address as provided on your application
    • Front and back copies lightened and enlarged 200%
       

AND one of the following:

A current utility bill, issued within the last three months, by a Local Government or utilities provider

  • Must show your name as provided on the application
  • Must show your residential address as provided on the application 
  • PO Box addresses will not be accepted
     

A current mobile phone bill, issued within the last three months:

  • Must show your name as provided on the application
  • Must show your residential address as provided on the application 
  • PO Box addresses will not be accepted
     

A current bank statement, issued within the last three months:

  • Must show your name as provided on the application
  • Must show your residential address as provided on the application
  • PO Box addresses will not be accepted
     

4. Passport and eligible Visa details

Please send the following documentation for verification:

  • The photo page of your current passport
  • Your current Australian visa

5. Vehicle security verification content (applicable for secured personal loan only)

Minimum requirements for a vehicle offered as security. The car you offer as security on your secured personal loan must:

  1. Be less than 7 years old
  2. Have been imported by the manufacturer
  3. Never have been written off (even if it was repaired)
  4. Have a value appropriate to the loan amount
  5. Be worth $10,000 or more
  6. Have a paid full comprehensive insurance policy with Westpac noted as the financier.

Dealers Invoice or Contract of Sale. This must state:

  • Dealerships ABN and Name      
  • Dealers licence number
  • Applicant’s name and address as per application. If joint application it can be in either or both applicants’ names
  • Year, Make, Model, Body and Badge of the vehicle to be purchased
  • VIN/ Chassis number
  • Build or Production date (Month/Year)
  • Engine number
  • Registration Plate number and expiry date (if purchasing a Used vehicle/ Demo model/Auction)

Note:  Hand written Dealer Invoices are acceptable provided no amendments are made

Or
 

Official Registration Certificate or Recent Renewal notice. This must state:

  • Expiry date and must be current
  • Seller’s name
  • Vehicle details, Year, Make, Model on registration papers
  • VIN/ Chassis number
  • Engine number
  • Registration Plate number
  •  Documents not accepted:
    • Registration transfer form

6. Your personal details

If you have a mortgage, or have recently applied for a mortgage, the details of the monthly payments.

If you are renting or boarding, the details of your landlord / real estate agent including:

  • Name
  • Contact number

 

Details of all your monthly financial commitments, such as payments made for other loans, or credit cards

7. What do I need to check first?

Is the residential address we hold for you the latest? You will need to provide this in your application.

How to provide us with your latest address:

  • You can update us by calling 132 032 or
  • Update your personal details by signing in to Online Banking or Mobile Banking (if you are registered).

Allow 24 hours for our records to be updated before completing your application.
