Who can open
- Westpac customers 18 years or over. Under 18 or applying on behalf of somebody younger?
- Those with an Australian residential address who are currently in Australia.
Did you arrive in Australia within the last 12 months?
- Do you have a Pensioner Concession, Commonwealth Seniors Health Card or Health Care card, and intend to have benefits under your card(s) paid into the account? You may be eligible for Westpac Choice Concession account.
- If you are under 30 years old or a full time tertiary student account-keeping fee is waived.
What you'll need
- Your Westpac Online Banking credentials.
- Register for online Banking if you haven't already.
What you'll get
- A Westpac Life account and a Westpac Choice everyday account so that you can easily transfer money in and out. We’ll only set you up with a Westpac Choice account if you don’t have an everyday account already. Fees and charges (PDF 897KB) (PDF 621KB) may apply on the Westpac Choice account.
- Online Banking and eStatements
- A Debit Mastercard® for your Westpac Choice account.

- Your Tax File Number (TFN). Providing this isn’t compulsory, however if you don’t provide it or provide a TFN exemption reason, tax may be withheld on the interest earned on the account

- If you are under 30 years old or a full time tertiary student account-keeping fee is waived.
What you'll need
- Your Westpac Online Banking credentials.
- Register for online Banking if you haven't already.
- To gain full access to your account, you’ll need to be registered for Westpac Protect SMS Code.
We’ll send an SMS Code to both applicants before opening your account. - The other applicant's email address and mobile number.

- A Westpac Life account and a Westpac Choice everyday account so that you can easily transfer money in and out. We’ll only set you up with a Westpac Choice account if you don’t have an everyday account already. Fees and charges (PDF 621KB) may apply on the Westpac Choice account.
- Online Banking and eStatements
- A Debit Mastercard® for each of you. Pay with the digital card in your Westpac App while awaiting your debit card

Complete your application in branch together
If you or the person you’re applying with is a new Westpac customer, you’ll need to visit a branch together to open your account. Please make sure you both bring:
- Your tax details. We’ll need your Tax File Number (TFN) and if you’re a foreign tax resident, we’ll also need your tax residency details.
- Suitable ID. You’ll both need to be verified separately.

Is applicant 2 already a Westpac customer?
