Currency Calculator

Working out how much cash you could get if you changed your Australian dollars into another currency can be confusing. Luckily a currency calculator could assist you.

A currency calculator can work out in an instant how much money you could have if you were to switch your Australian Dollars to another currency. Currency calculators work by using the current Australian exchange rate to let you know how much you could get in another currency.

Let’s say you’re going to the USA and have booked your hotel in US dollars. A currency converter may assist you to work out the exact amount required in Australian dollars for you to pay for 7 night’s accommodation. If the exchange rate is 0.7016   this means $1 Australian dollar buys you $0.7016 US Dollars.   If a hotel room is  $150 USD a night and you require 7 nights’ accommodation at a total price of $1050 US Dollars, a currency converter calculator would inform you that this converts to an amount of approximately $1498.58 Australian Dollars. Please note that the actual amount you will pay will depend on the exchange rate used at the time of payment and may include additional fees and charges depending on your payment method.

Why do exchange rates move?

Exchange rates are decided by the foreign exchange market (or forex market) – the largest financial market in the world. It’s open 24 hours a day except for weekends and it is larger than all of the world’s stock exchanges combined.
