Statement from Guil Lima on extension of the SME Guarantee Scheme

Westpac welcomes the announcement today from the Federal Government on the extension of the Coronavirus SME Guarantee Scheme.
The extended terms of the Scheme will continue supporting Australian small and medium sized businesses when they need it most. This will help businesses to get access to the funding they need, not just to stay afloat, but to expand, adapt and innovate.
The expanded Scheme will shift from providing access to working capital to now also enabling businesses to access finance for a wider range of investment, including asset financing.
As difficult as these times are, there will be opportunities and this scheme will help small and medium size businesses position themselves to take advantage of those opportunities.
