Australian icon Carla Zampatti to design for Westpac

29 May 2015

Australian fashion icon Carla Zampatti, who celebrates 50 years in the fashion business this year, will design Westpac’s new corporate wardrobe, ‘The Westpac Collection’, featuring a range of functional and professional choices for Westpac.

Ms Zampatti will work with a panel of Westpac employees throughout the design process to create a range which offers options, that are both comfortable yet stylish which will be worn by up to 10 000 employees. ‘The Westpac Collection’ will be unveiled in the lead-up to Westpac’s 200th anniversary as Australia’s first bank, which will kick-off celebrations around the country on the 8 April 2017.

As one of the country’s biggest employers with a network of 680 branches, corporate and commercial offices across Australia as well as mobile bankers, ‘The Westpac Collection’ is a key element of Westpac’s brand.

Westpac's Group Executive of Retail & Business Banking, Jason Yetton said, "Our people are the most visible ambassadors for our brand and we want them to have a wardrobe that makes them proud and matches our ambition to be the number one retail bank.

“The new range will be introduced as we approach our 200th birthday and enter our third century as Australia’s first company and bank and we are delighted that leading Australian designer Carla Zampatti has agreed to design ‘The Westpac Collection’. We have had a long standing relationship with Carla who established her business over 50 years ago and like many small businesses across Australia Westpac backed her vision.

“As an internationally recognised brand, Carla understands heritage, quality and innovation which are synonymous to Westpac. Carla and ourselves share a passion for collaboration which is important as our people will also be a major part of the new design,” said Mr Yetton.

Ms Zampatti commented, “Having been a Westpac customer for more than 50 years, I was honoured to be invited to take the partnership to a new level. Corporate wardrobes are similar to any fashion design, in that you create a style that people want to wear but they must also be highly functional and comfortable; it’s all about the design, fit and the fabrics.

“My vision for the design is contemporary yet timeless, stylish and comfortable.  A corporate wardrobe must be something which employees are proud to wear every day they go to work and I am looking forward to working with Westpac to achieve this,” said Ms Zampatti.

‘The Westpac Collection’ will include a wide range of choices for their people and will be implemented across Westpac’s branch network from October 2016.
