Westpac prevails at AB+F business banking awards

26 March 2015

Westpac's focus on understanding its customers and going the extra mile to help improve their businesses has contributed to it winning the most categories and taking home the top gong at the 2015 AB+F Corporate & Business Banking Awards held in Sydney last night.

The event, now in its fifth year, was well supported by the industry with 135 bankers and senior financial services executives in attendance.

Awards were handed out in 12 categories, with Westpac winning five of these, including being named best business bank, the top honour of the night, as well as taking home four other great accolades:

  • Best Service Business Bank
  • Best Business Banking at Branch
  • Best Cash Management Business Bank, and
  • Best Equipment Finance & Leasing Business Bank.

Alastair Welsh, Westpac’s General Manager Commercial Banking, said the bank was delighted to be recognised by AB+F.  "These awards are acknowledgement that we are making excellent progress in the eyes of those who matter the most – our customers.

"The result illustrates our increased focus on the service that we offer our business customers and recognises our people and their commitment to providing customers with high-quality, right-first-time, consistent experience.”

Westpac’s Business Banking team, across Commercial Banking and Small Business Banking, has invested in market leading capabilities to support customers, including the roll-out of Westpac Live for Business, Connect Now, and Live Online Lending Application (LOLA).

Westpac Live for Business supports all business customers on their path to success, providing a market-leading offering that allows easy access and control over the business finances on-the-go.

Westpac has invested more than $12 million in the national roll-out of Connect Now to ensure businesses around Australia have access to the specialised advice they need to keep their business moving. Westpac has Connect Now hubs established in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and looks forward to opening a fourth hub in Brisbane by the end of 2015. The bank has over 220 branches and business banking centres video conference enabled already.

In addition to providing the Connect Now service, Westpac is now making it easier for small business to apply for additional loan funding through its Live Online Lending Application system (LOLA).

Using existing customer information, LOLA allows eligible SME customers to apply for additional funds without spending time on application documentation. LOLA allows customers to meet with their Local Westpac Business Banker to access conditionally approved funds and develop their business needs.
