How a Westpac balance transfer works
With a Westpac credit card balance transfer, you can:
- Consolidate up to 3 non-Westpac Australian credit, charge or store cards.
- Transfer up to 80% of the credit limit available on the Westpac card you’re transferring to (minimum transfer of $200).

Any approved balance transfers will occur once your card is activated.
Key points
- Westpac will not cancel your other cards. If your aim is to pay down your balances, it may be helpful to cancel your old cards once the balance transfer is complete so you don't use them to accrue more debt.
- A minimum payment is required each month.
- When the balance transfer period ends, the cash advance rate will apply to any outstanding balance transfer amount.

Frequently asked questions
Are there balance transfer fees?
Depending on the card and offer, there may be a one-off balance transfer fee that's charged to your new credit card account. If there is a balance transfer fee, it’ll be charged on the same day any balances are debited to your account. Keep in mind that some balance transfer offers don’t charge a balance transfer fee at all.
What if I don't repay my transferred balances by the end of the offer period?
At the end of the credit card's promotional period, any remaining balance transferred amount that you’ve not repaid will be charged interest at the variable cash advance rate of your card.
Will I get interest-free days if I use my card?
If your card interest-free days on purchases, you will still benefit from these if you choose to have a balance transfer balance on the account.
