Building a better tomorrow – our 2023 impact

Westpac Foundation is proud to release our 2023 Impact Report, which showcases the collective impact the Foundation is making with our grant partners in local communities across Australia.

We’re focused on investing in job creation by providing funding and programs to help create jobs and opportunities for those facing barriers to work. We do this by supporting job-focused local community organisations and social enterprises – businesses tackling social and sustainability challenges, while also providing accessible and inclusive employment and training programs.

Meaningful employment is a powerful pathway out of disadvantage, and we’ve set ourselves the bold ambition to help create 10,000 jobs by 2030 and we’re already over halfway there. This year, our partners created 1,238 jobs, bringing the tally to 7,240 since 2015.  To support our community partners in 2023, we awarded $2million and distributed a further $1million through Inclusive Employment Grants.

To support the social enterprise sector and have an even greater impact, this year, Westpac Foundation joined forces with a collective of Australia’s leading philanthropic foundations to create a pioneering collaborative grant program, the Work Integration Social Enterprise (WISE) Grant, offering up to $4.7 million in grants. The new grant program will help strengthen the outcomes created by jobs-focused social enterprises.

The impact report also shares many stories from social enterprise and community partners which demonstrate the widespread positive impact they’re having our community.
