Avoid Westpac Online Banking restriction 

This phishing SMS advises that you need to confirm your mobile device to avoid Online Banking restrictions. By clicking the link you will be taken to a fake sign in page (phishing website) which requests your personal banking information.

Westpac will never ask you for this type of information via SMS. Please delete this message.


Aug 2020 - Scam email

Your Account Banking has been disabled

This email advises your account has been suspended due to recent activity and will need to be verified by clicking on a link. The link will take you to a phishing website which may ask for personal information such as online banking log in details and/or credit card details.

Do not click the links in this email or enter your personal information. Westpac will never ask you to click a link to sign into your online banking. When receiving genuine communications, we will always ask you to sign in securely by typing westpac.com.au into your browser or using the Westpac mobile banking app.


Aug 2020 - Scam email

Account temporarily disabled

This email advises your account has been temporarily disabled and to click on a link to get verified. Both links will take you to a phishing website which may ask for personal information such as online banking log in details and/or credit card details.

Do not click the links in this email or enter your personal information. Westpac will never ask you to click a link to sign into your online banking. When receiving genuine communications, we will always ask you to sign in securely by typing westpac.com.au into your browser or using the Westpac mobile banking app.


Jul 2020 - Scam SMS

Review your Online Banking accounts 

This phishing SMS advises that your Online Banking accounts require review or they will be terminated. By clicking the link you will be taken to a fake sign in page (phishing website) which requests your personal banking information.

Westpac will never ask you for this type of information via SMS. Please delete this message.

Westpac card put on hold 

This email advises your card has been placed on hold as we have detected suspicious usage, and to click on a link to get verified. The link will take you to a phishing website which may ask for personal information such as online banking log in details and/or credit card details.

Your eStatement is ready to view online

This email advises your statement is ready and provides a link to sign in to online banking. The link will take you to a phishing website which may ask for personal information such as online banking log in details and/or credit card details.

Do not click the link in this email or enter your personal information. Westpac will never ask you to click a link to sign into your online banking. When receiving communications about genuine Westpac e-Statements, we will always ask you sign in securely by typing westpac.com.au into your browser or using the Westpac mobile banking app.


May 2020 - Scam SMS

Review your contact details

This phishing SMS requests you review your contact details and has used Westpac's 132 032 phone number to lure you into believing this is a trusted message. By clicking the link you will be taken to a fake sign in page (phishing website) which requests your personal banking information.

Westpac will never ask you for this type of information via SMS. Please delete this message.

Invalid data on your account 

This email advises that there is invalid data on your account and to click a link to verify. The link will take you to a phishing website which may ask for personal information such as online banking sign in details and/or credit card details.

Apr 2020 - Scam email

This email advises that we are experiencing a high rate of mail server messages. The link will take you to a phishing website which may ask for personal information such as online banking sign in details and/or credit card details.
