Credit Card Complimentary Insurance Changes

Effective 1 October 2017, the issuer of your Westpac Credit Cards Complimentary Insurance will be changing from QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited (“QBE”) to Allianz Australia Insurance Limited (“Allianz”).

 

What does this mean for you?

 

  • Altitude Business Gold credit card
  • Altitude Business Qantas Gold credit card
  • Altitude Business Platinum credit card
  • BusinessChoice Rewards credit card

If you have one of the Westpac Business credit cards above, your level of cover will remain the same. However, the policy wording has been updated to reflect Allianz’s standard policy wording. The key clauses that have been updated are:

  • Privacy
  • Complaints and dispute resolution process
  • Emergency and medical services while overseas.

If you satisfy eligibility criteria for cover under the Westpac Business Credit Cards Complimentary Insurance policy and an insurable event occurs on or after 1 October 2017, your claim will be addressed by Allianz. For events occurring prior to 1 October 2017, your claim will be addressed by QBE.

If you satisfy eligibility criteria for cover under the credit card complimentary insurance policy booklet relevant to your card and an insurable event occurs on or after 1 October 2017, your claim will be addressed by Allianz. For events occurring prior to 1 October 2017 your claim will be addressed by QBE.

If you satisfy eligibility criteria for cover under the relevant insurance policy, your claim will be addressed by Allianz.

You can call Allianz on 1800 091 710 from Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm AEST and Saturday, 8am to 5pm AEST to discuss your claim. Allianz will advise you who will address your claim.

If you have made a claim prior to 1 October 2017, QBE will continue to address your existing claim. Please refer to correspondence received from QBE, which will contain the contact details of your QBE case manager.

No, if you have paid the administration fee for confirmation from QBE that your pre-existing medical condition is covered for the duration of your trip, Allianz will also cover your pre-existing medical condition.

To assist Allianz in processing your claim, it would be helpful if you could retain a copy of QBE’s approval of your pre-existing medical condition.

No, all policy numbers will remain the same.

AWP Australia Pty Ltd, ABN 52 097 227 177, AFSL 245631, of 74 High Street, Toowong, QLD 4066 (trading as Allianz Global Assistance) under a binder from the underwriter, Allianz Australia Insurance Limited ABN 15 000 122 850, AFSL 234708, has issued an insurance group policy to Westpac Banking Corporation ABN 33 007 457 141 AFSL and Australian credit licence 233714 (Westpac), of 275 Kent Street, Sydney, NSW 2000 which allows eligible Westpac account holders and cardholders to claim under it as third party beneficiaries. The terms, conditions, limits and exclusions, of the group policy, are set out in the Westpac Credit Cards Complimentary Insurance policy, Westpac Business Credit Cards Complimentary Insurance policy, and Commercial Cards Insurance policy which may be amended from time to time. Westpac does not guarantee the insurance.
