Travelling overseas and shopping online

Using your card overseas

  • A travel money card means you can lock in your exchange rate in advance and know exactly what your budget is, rather than constantly having to work out the currency exchange from the local currency back into Aussie dollars. You can use your card to get money out at ATMS or shop like a local in stores and at restaurants (the local currency is automatically selected if it’s loaded on your card)
  • Make sure you use a Global Alliance ATM if there’s one near you – that way you won’t have to pay a withdrawal fee1
  • Your money is protected by Chip and PIN card security, and includes the protection of Visa Zero Liability Policy, protecting you from fraudulent charges or unauthorised purchases3
  • You’ll get two travel money cards in case one is lost or stolen.

Using your card at home

  • Have money left over on your card? Use it to get cash out from ATMs and to shop in Australia or online
  • Shop in store
  • Shop online on overseas sites instead of using a credit card and save on foreign transaction fees.2
