Our Community Grants program aims to help create fairer, more inclusive communities by supporting organisations working with people in these target groups because as a cohort, they are often some of the most socially and economically disadvantaged members of the Australian community.

Our grant program is intended to help improve quality of life, in particular through supporting programs and activities that provide jobs, employment pathways, education and training opportunities.

No, we are seeking to support organisations strengthening Australian communities and helping people in need in Australia.

Through our Community Grants program, we are seeking to support smaller community organisations where a $10,000 grant will provide a significant boost to their great work in the community.

Nominations

Yes. If you know a Westpac Group employee, you may ask them to nominate your organisation from 1 May 2019. If your organisation is a Westpac customer, please contact your Bank Manager or the team at your local branch to discuss them nominating your organisation from 1 May 2019.  If you haven’t already, please introduce yourself and give them an opportunity to find out more about what you do to help those in need in the local community.

If your organisation does not have an existing relationship or bank with Westpac, you can still reach out to the team at your local branch. You can introduce yourself and ask if the team would like to know more about the work you do for those in need in the local community. Once the team have had the opportunity to get to know you better, you can ask for them to nominate your organisation to apply from 1 May 2019.

Yes, this is a new process. Now in its eighth year, we recognise that our Community Grants program has a much bigger impact when we have passionate Westpac Group employees supporting our grant recipients. Our employees act as ambassadors for their community organisations, such as by connecting them to skilled volunteering opportunities or helping them to organise fundraising activities. In order to encourage this, we have introduced Westpac Group employee nominations as part of the application process.

Once a Westpac Group employee has completed the nomination form, your organisation will receive an email advising you of the nomination and provide you with a link to apply for a Community Grant.

Application process

As part of your application you will be required to provide the following:

  • A photo and logo representing your organisation
  • A recent copy of your organisation’s bank statement. This is required to enable us to verify your organisation’s bank account details should your organisation be successful in receiving a grant.

Please provide the primary postcode where your organisation will deliver programs or services to individuals in our target groups if successful with this grant request.

You will need to provide your organisation’s annual gross revenue. Please use the figure in your financial statements lodged with the ACNC or other relevant regulatory body for the last financial year.

We require all applicants to attach a recent bank account statement (first page of bank statement) to allow us to verify your organisation’s bank account details. This is a requirement of our internal risk management processes, and helps ensure that grant funds are paid to the correct bank account. You may wish to mask the account balances and transaction information.

Upon submitting your application you will receive an acknowledgement email from Westpac Foundation confirming that your application has been received. This email will include your application number along with a pdf copy of your application.

Applications close at 5pm AEST on Wednesday 5 June 2019.
