All applications must be submitted through SmartyGrants to be considered valid. Before submitting your application please ensure you have fully prepared your answers and supporting documents as applications cannot be re-submitted.
Unfortunately we cannot review any applications we receive directly or via any means other than SmartyGrants.
It should be noted however, that while it's not compulsory, a letter of support from a Westpac employee highlighting your organisation's impact in the local community, is highly regarded. If you do not know a Westpac employee and would like to speak to someone about your application and a letter of support, please visit your local Westpac branch.
Yes, we accept applications from organisations with auspicing agreements. However, your organisation must have the auspice agreement attached to the application at the time of submission. You will also be asked for your bank account details, this should be the auspiced organisation's bank account.
Organisations can apply for funding of up to $10,000. The total grant pool is $1 million. We reserve the right to increase or decrease the grant size at our discretion.
In addition to financial support, the Westpac Foundation is also committed in providing a range of non-financial support services to help maximise the impact and sustainability of our recipients. Based on the needs of individual recipients, we will seek to make connections between the organisations and local Westpac Ambassadors who will help open doors to a range of skilled volunteering, mentoring and networking opportunities across the Westpac Group.
The postcode you should enter should be the location of the target groups for your project that you are seeking to have funding for, not your organisation's office address. For example your organisation's office is in Sydney CBD but the target groups you are seeking funding for are located in Parramatta, please put the postcode for Parramatta in the application form. We recognise that this could be more than one postcode, the application form will allow more than one.
You will need to list all income and expenses that is relevant to the project you are requesting funding for. Do not include broader financial information. We are only interested in the costs and benefits for the project which you are seeking grant funding.
No, your project needs to strengthen communities and help people in need in Australia. If your organisation works in the Pacific region, you may be eligible to apply for a Westpac Foundation Pacific Grant.
Eligible applications are first assessed against the selection criteria. These assessments are then considered by an advisory committee of Westpac employees in each state who understand the local community's needs. Each state committee has a certain grant pool to award in their state. The final decisions are made by the Westpac Foundation Directors.
Applications close at 5pm on Thursday 17 March 2016. Grant recipients will be announced and grant payments made in June 2016.
Please note that Westpac Foundation cannot fund all eligible applicants as part of the Community Grant program. Each year the total amount requested by organisations exceeds the amount we have available.
