Consolidating my superannuation
If you have more than one super fund, you’re probably paying more fees than you need to. Consolidating your super makes it easier to manage, could save you money and reduces your chances of having lost super. Follow the simple steps below to consolidate your super into one fund with Westpac.
Please ensure you speak to a Westpac Financial Planner 1 prior to changing your current arrangements.
Step 1
Gather together your most recent super statements. If you can't find your statements, look at the paperwork sent to you whilst you were with your previous employer(s). You’ll need to find out:
- your previous super fund's name and address
- the Superannuation Product Identification Number (SPIN) or
- the Australian Business Number (ABN)
- member/policy number.
Step 2
If your superannuation money isn’t in the fund that you thought or you can't locate all of your super, call your previous employer(s).
- Ask them where your super money was placed when you left.
- Find out the name, address, member/policy number of your account and telephone number of the super fund
- Call the super fund to confirm that they have your money.
The ATO has a register of lost super money. If you cannot contact your previous employer, or the super fund has transferred your money to another super fund, contact the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) on 131 020 and ask for Lost Members Register.
Alternatively you can visit SuperSeeker.
Step 3
If you are a member of any of these funds - Westpac Personal Investment Fund, Westpac Personal Super Fund, Westpac Simple Super (Westpac Personal Superannuation) or Westpac Lifetime Superannuation Service (Westpac Master Trust - Superannuation), you can rollover super from other accounts by completing a request form from this list and sending it to the address marked on the form.
- Request to transfer Westpac Personal Investment Fund (PDF 75Kb)
- Request to transfer Westpac Personal Super Fund (PDF 75Kb)
- Request to transfer Westpac Simple super (PDF 75Kb)
- Request to transfer Westpac Lifetime Superannuation Service (PDF 144kb).
We'll then arrange for each super fund to transfer your money into your Westpac fund. Please complete a separate form for each benefit to be transferred and ensure that each one has an original signature. If you need to speak to someone, give us a call at Westpac Customer Relations on 131 817, Monday to Friday between 8.30am to 6.30pm (AEST/AEDT).
If you have a BT Super for Life account, this process can be substantially reduced with the Easy Rollover tool. If you don't have a BT Super for Life account, you can set one up here.
You should carefully read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) or other disclosure document before deciding whether to acquire, continue to hold or dispose of interests in the relevant super fund/plan.
You can download a copy of the BT Super for Life PDS (PDF 1mb) and the Financial Services Guide (PDF 304kb). Alternatively they can be obtained by calling 131 817, or from any Westpac branch.
