How does Westpac keep my money secure?

We’re committed to keeping your banking transactions secure, when you’re using your credit or debit cards, or Online Banking.

CardShield ^TM

We've put in place a number of processes and best practice solutions to help protect you and reduce incidents of fraud. CardShield ^TM includes these and guards you against fraudulent activity so you can:

• Buy anything you like, on any website - your card's Online Transaction Security Guarantee means that we guarantee you that as long as you have complied with the Westpac Online Banking Terms and Conditions, you will not be liable for the amount of any online transaction made without your knowledge or consent, if we are notified of that transaction before the due date shown on the card account statement
• Rest easy with 24/7 Falcon™ fraud protection - this monitors every transaction for irregular activity. If a suspicious transaction is detected, our fraud specialists will contact you to verify it
• Use Chip technology - we'll soon be upgrading existing Westpac MasterCard ^® and Visa credit cards to feature an embedded microchip which will give you access to the latest in credit card security. Refer to How we keep your credit card secure for more information.

Online Banking security

• We are committed to keeping your Online Banking secure - with Westpac Protect you enjoy convenient and secure Online Banking
• Our new security certificates ensure you have a legitimate connection to our online services
• Together with online security specialist Bitdefender, we are offering 1 year free access to Internet Security, a software product to help keep you secure online
• You can also protect your business against online fraud using our SecurID ^® tokens – and your first one is free. By using a token, you are able to make payments above your daily limit. This means that you, and only you, can have unlimited access to available funds in your account
