Before you get started, here's some things you may need to know.
Am I eligible?
- You need an Australian residential address and be 12 years and older.
NOTE:
- Fast track your application - if you use Online Banking and are applying online in your name only, you may not need to visit a branch to be identified
- Non-residents and overseas applicants should visit Migrant Banking
- To open an account in trust for someone else, you will need to visit a branch

If you are a new customer, you will need to visit a branch to be identified to fully activate your account.
How can I apply?
Online and have the whole thing wrapped up in under 10 minutes. It will take 24-48 hours for your account to be opened and you may not need to visit a branch to be identified.
In person - visit any Westpac branch. Your account will be opened on the spot.
Over the phone - just call us on 132 032 (8am-8pm, 7 days a week) and we'll guide you through. Your account will be opened instantly, however you may need to visit a branch to be identified.
What happens next?
- Online - You'll receive an acknowledgement email after you submit your application, followed by a welcome email with all your account details within 24 - 48 hours
- Over the phone - you'll have a choice of receiving a welcome pack via post within 5-10 days or a welcome email within 24-48 hours.
